Why not? The only reason these other uninspiring clowns gain a fan following is because they are shoved down all our throats willy-nilly. The most useless starkid is given chance after chance on top of chance...and not as a supporting actor but in 😲starring roles. If Sonam can have the title role in a movie based upon----what?----her DADDY???? Yeah sure, HE should have played Aisha. Now THAT would have been something to see----why not Abhay? At least HE has talent and can do more than pose.

So much of the problem isn't even the actors, it's the quality of the films they are given to work with anyway.

Showcase him right and Abhay is great. I've liked him in everything I've seen him in. Not everyone can, or should be a "love god" type anyway.

yes they can...

you need to realize that not all movies need to be made on a huge budget... gauranteed, he is not as popular as the khans, but everyone has ups and downs... the directors and producers can take easily cast him, provided they are mindful about the subject they are making and are realistic (being the key word here) about his performance at the box office... if they think he's one of the khans or akshay and make a film on a huge budget with him, the chances of being a hit would depend on the content...

this actually goes for all the stars, not just abhay... cast salman or akshay in a serious movie, chances are it would not do well... his audience does not expect that from him... put SRK in a paheli, then even his star status can't save the movie... such movies need good content and need to connect with the audience... comedy genre has a little more scope, because entertaining movies in general tend to work... even i prefer to watch something comic when my schedule keeps me busy like a bee... i do like realistic cinema as well, but it does need to hold my interest... otherwise, i'd rather watch the news (which tends to be more realistic than the realistic cinema) or read a book (again, much more informative)...

abhay has loyal fan bas ein multiplexes people know if he star in film then film must be good yes Aisha was misfire but rest of movies are worth watching
which is very rare for under 40 actor in bollywood

and aisha had decent opening in multiplexes some even had above 70+ opening so he can open a film

and honestly I blame the countless mind numbing movies like Bodyguard, Ready, Rowdy rathore for the fact that our audience has totally forgotten serious cinema and only wants to watch escapist senseless movies!

I think the film makers who work with him and his fans also realize that it is unlikely that AD will ever be in a 100 cr movie...but at the end of the day, if its an AD movie I do make it a point to drag myself to the theatre to watch it...because if nothing else, I know that the story would be interesting...

I liked Shanghai too...its a true depiction of our times...but what can AD do if people prefer to see 40+ men kill 10 people at once over a depiction of the decay in our society.
