Me too!

I have to admit, he got a plus point from me for that! I didn't like his hosting as much in the first ep...but this was good, can't help but like him for it. 😳

A while back we had a discussion on DM, almost every of us girls had a moment growing up in India where we were inappropriately touched, stalked or something similar. Despite coming from educated backgrounds, we all had inner guilt and embarrassment to talk about it or seek help until years later. It is a rabid problem in India and something has to be done to help the victims. The case is worst for boys, especially in cultures of machismo. It is ok for a girl to break down and cry and seek help. But for a boy to accept that he has been sexually abused, it threatens his masculinity, his role as man in the society.

I don't think the show is "un-watchable" or anything. If the people that go through child sexual abuse can come out so strong like the victims on the show and turn their lives around and are able to survive with those haunting memories even today, then how can we even complain? Imagine what they must have went through - the trauma at that tender age for more than a decade for a few of the victims on the show.
It's important to bring issues like this out in the open because especially in India, things are always hushed. I remember my mother giving me "the talk" about sex when I was in high school. My dadiji pretty much forbid her to do any such thing, afraid of what it would do to me. But I'm glad my mom told me what she did. The same thing applies to abuse. It's crucial to recognize sexual abuse as early as possible and end it. And for that, you need to educate the society and especially your children. It's not just enough to know that sexual abuse exists. You should be aware of the details too, no matter how disturbing they may seem because its knowing these details that may somehow help you figure out how to protect your child better or recognize the predator abusing your child.
I actually thought that he should have shown incest as well because a huge number of child rape and molestation cases involve a family member. As disgusting as that sounds, its true! And instead of hiding the dark realities of society, I'm glad this show is actually revealing them.
I went to India a few years ago and I was in a Science museum sort of place. I drifted away from my family for a bit because to see a physics effect on some really cool mirrors. And the security guard told me they had more mirrors on another side. I followed him because he would obviously know the place better than me. He led me into a room and touched my butt. I ran out immediately. I was so scared at the time. After living there for a few more months, I got used to men staring at me, wolf-whistling and even making kissing sounds or gestures on the streets in the open. I'm not saying the problem doesn't exist in America or or other places but in India, I feel like the society turns away from social issues like this. I felt scared to tell my mom even though technically the man had just touched me and hadn't done anything else And I was a teenager! I knew what sexual abuse was and everything. If I had been more educated on the issue, though, maybe I would have even slapped the man or something. I wouldn't have been as fearful or felt guilty even though I knew that I hadn't done anything wrong.
I'm glad Aamir Khan made this show. People can say what they want about him but he is doing something to bring more awareness to social issues that other celebrities aren't doing.

these are really serious issues that are not talked about especially in India but should! im glad SMJ is raising awareness about the issues and helping to reduce it through workshops, petitions and supporting charity organizations!

SMJ is the best and most meaningful show ive ever seen! good job Aamir and the entire SMJ team for such a brilliant show!

Hmm, even though AK's intention is good , the issues need to be discussed to make people believe that there is no shame in standing up against what is wrong... Satyamev Jayate does make you feel that this world is such an unlivable place. Makes you cynical but makes you aware and aggressive for the right cause at the same time.
