Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar miffed with Madhuri
Ticking off the politicians in her home state (Maharashtra) is getting to become something of a habit with dhak-dhak girl Madhuri Dixit.
Nitesh Rane, Swabhimaan Sanghatana chief and son of Industries Minister Narayan Rane, tweeted, "Madhuri charging high for being the brand ambassador of Maharashtra is such a disgrace! When it comes to your own soil... one should be selfless! Shame!" He was commenting on reports that the actress turned down an offer to be brand ambassador for Maharashtra Tourism after not being offered the fee she sought.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, at a recent state government awards function, remarked at her absence at the event: "This is a state honour, a token of the love of 11 crore citizens. Some stars were free to receive other awards two days ago, but are tied for time to receive a government honour." His comments came after Mads attended an event presided over by Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray and received the Dinanath Mangeshkar Award but skipped the state awards. A senior official noted that Aamir Khan is promoting the Union Tourism Ministry's 'Incredible India - Atithi Devo Bhava' campaign without charging any fees.
Madhuri out, Hrithik in for State campaign
However, it wasn't just Hrithik's appearance they were guarding. Rather, the kadak bandobust was in lieu of the few ministers who came down to meet Roshan, to discuss the proposal to make him the brand ambassador for the state of Maharashtra.
A source close to the film told Mirror, "Three ministers from Mantralaya had come down. They were made to wait in Hrithik's vanity van for 20-odd minutes since the actor was busy shooting a scene and could not abandon it in between. As soon as he got done, they had a meeting at about 4pm that went on for around 30 minutes."
The source further revealed, "Everything has been finalised. Hrithik just needs to have a final meeting with the main person in charge. That will take place as soon as this schedule is completed in three to four days."
While both Hrithik and Rakesh Roshan remained unavailable for comment, Hrithik's agency Carving Dreams that is looking into the deal, simply said, "We will let you know at the right time."
We hear Madhuri Dixit was approached earlier for the prestigious role of brand ambassador but she demanded a whopping fee of nearly Rs 9 crore. Sachin Tendulkar, who was a contender as well, couldn't take on the role due to his cricket commitments.
