It's reining biopics in Bollywood. After the success of 'The Dirty Picture' and 'Paan Singh Tomar', producers and directors are on a hunting spree for controversial figures. And, looks like Vikram Sandhu has found his muse.
Buzz is that he's planning to make a film based on Bollywood actress Divya Bharti. Divya was the youngest leading lady of Bollywood when she died in April 1993. She was on the way to a highly successful career when she fell from the balcony of her apartment building. The circumstances of her death still remain a mystery.
According to media reports, Vikram is on a lookout for a face similar to Divya Bhatri's and the auditions for the leading lady are on in Karnal, Jammu, Chandigarh and Delhi. However, he has denied the film being based on her. "My film is based on a young girl in her teens who becomes a star overnight, and how her journey from a small town girl to fame leads her to a drastic stage. It might sound similar to some real character but it is not based on any particular star," a daily quoted the filmmaker as saying.
After a series of rejection, Divya's career began with Telugu film 'Bobbili Raja'. She tasted success in Bollywood with films like 'Vishwatma', 'Shola Aur Shabnam' and 'Deewana'. Divya was married to producer Sajid Nadiadwala.
Reports suggest that the film will go on floors in July this year and will be shot in India and Dubai.
