Bollywood is in the midst of a metamorphosis. Today sensible cinema (Paan Singh Tomar and Kahaani) enjoys pride of place alongside regular potboilers. And it is equally heartening to see the box office numbers grow each year. In 2010, Bollywood got a humungous hit in Dabangg; in 2011 there was Bodyguard that upset Chulbul Pandey's record. Barely four months later Hrithik Roshan has made his entry into the top five grosser club with his Agneepath.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh says, "The dynamics will constantly change because we are going really wide with our releases on home turf and overseas.''
Earlier being a member of the 100-cr club was a prerogative; now with 2,500-3,000-plus prints being released for the bigger films; increasing number of movie-halls; there are regular upsets in the highest grossing films of all time.
Aamir Khan continues to hold the number one slot because his 3-Idiots is the highest grossing Bollywood movie ever with a reported 202 crore collection.
Salman Khan's Bodyguard boasts of a 150 cr tally and is on number two slot; while the actor's Dabangg holds third place with a reported collection of 145 crore. The new entrant in the top five list is Agneepath. This January 2012 release has allegedly collected 125 crore, racing past Salman's Ready that now stands at 121 crore.
Karan Johar is ecstatic. He admits that Agneepath is very special to him because he paid homage to his dad Yash Johar and the Mukul Anand through it. Says he, "It's been a special film and its mainstream success is a bonus.''

P.S. Trade sources indicate that Robot incidentally is the highest grossing Indian film. However, it is not in this list because it was released simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Also many say that it couldn't beat 3 Idiots on home turf; but was huge overseas.

i was once a huge hrithik fan...now i don't find him any 'fun' he constantly hams up in each of his movies...damn abt the BO resutls...his acting is more or less like SRK...repeatedly crawling 🥱

Hrithik can never overtake SRK. Although HR is a better actor among the two no doubt but he can never overtake SRK's place. He doesn't has tht aura and screen presence. HR needs strong script to deliver a hit but for actors like SRK or Salman their mere presence is enough to pull the crowds. So I would say as an actor Hrithik is good but he doesn't has the same screen presence as SRK or Salmaan or aamir have.

Hammy Roshan? Nopes. Shahrukh I dont like him but I dont see HR replacing him.

hitrick couldn't overshadow shahrukh in his golden days let alone now...he may have one movie that has crossed the 100 crore mark in his entire career but should i really list the number of movies shahrukh has crossed the 100 line...?!
