Yeah, She is a Tamil Bramhin. They are called Palakkad Iyers(PI). PI's are originally from TamilNadu, but they migrated to the Palakkad area of Kerala.

Vidya is from Kerala, but she is Tamil. There is a significant population of Tamils in Kerala, especially in Palakkad. (They are border states, after all.)

Akshay has been Akshay since forever.. he said when he used to work in Bangkok, he was called Akshay there.. RaJivv is just hi home name I guess, He said his passport/driving licence says Akshay Kumar..

As Lik and Maddy said Vidya is a Tam Brahmin. Her name in Kahaani is Vidya Bagchi which is misconstrued as Bidya Bagchi.

When I was a kid, I read an exclusive interview (A transcribed version of what the journos recorded on their recorder) of his where he said his father's name was Mir Taj Muhammad. He didn't add Khan. That's all I know.

yes changed for marriage ...but not her real name na which she changed to enter in the movies or something like Akshay was Rajeev bhatia etc
