But as an actor he deserves all that praise. He's not overrated at all IMO. He's a brilliant/intense actor in most of his films & stands out in every role he plays.

True, as a producer/Director he is overarted but as an actor I think he has mostly stayed true to his principles and to his audience.

What I like most about him is that he never over promises- he delivers what he promises.

Aamir Khan's a good actor, but overrated in my opinion.

People tend to ignore a lot of things when it comes to him as opposed to his contemporaries or the other two Khans. Aamir has done his share of retarded films, even his good films have loopholes, flaws etc, yet how many times does he get criticized on that? Hardly.

& the films he has done are good , are different but theyre not the best films ever to have happened in bollywood. The unconditional love that some have for Aamir only helps his work sell, regardless..the next thing you know he'll have a movie where we'll only see paint dry & people will go WOWW, this is amazing, kya baat hai Aamir ki.

Like I said, he's good but so darn, freakin' good like people make him? Nah.

I never said he was the best, he is a good actor and has done lots of different type of characters.

Then trust me from 90's up till now all of BW stars all of them are over rated.

Regarding overrated... Yes he is as overrated as the other two Khans...

But as an actor, no complains... As of today I can go watch an Aamir Khan movie and i have the guarantee that i will come out engaged and entertained for the whole 3 hrs...

He is one superstar who's script and the character takes precedence over the star himself...

Off screen... Well... I just like one or two celebs off screen... The rest of them including Aamir i dont have any strong like nor do i have a strong dislike towards any of them... One time or the other they have annoyed me...

Him not giving credit to people is one time... Particularly the Amol Gupte episode...

And abt him not being talked and dissed as much as the other two Khans, thats bcoz he is not in the news as much as the other two...He knows when to make the right noises at the right time and that right noises and right time is when his movies are up for release...He is quite shrewd that way. 😆

I find Aamir Khan's career graph to be very ironical!

When he was at his creative best, he was hugely under-rated and also ignored...by both the media and the masses! Some of his best works...Akele Hum Akele Tum, Raakh, Baazi, Ghulam and so many more did not get him the kind of recognition that he truly deserved!

But some of his crappiest films...both script-wise and acting wise, like Raja Hindustani, Fanaa and then Ghazini turned out to the turning points of his career and launched him into super-stardom and in the leage of SRK and Salman, who IMO, are nowhere in the league of Aamir when it comes to Acting!

I feel that it is when Aamir gave up his 'creativity' infavour of marketing genius, that his sheen as an actor of substance dimmed a bit, but gained him the stardom that he was supposed to have got much earlier!

I might be hopelessly biased, because I have always been a huge Aamir fan, but I do think that amongst the current lot, he is the best actor we have, followed by Saif and Ranbir! Aamir's strength lies in his versitality and his ability to really and truly get into the skin of the character he is playing, unlike SRK and Salman, who never seem to be able to get out of their real life persona! When you watch Aamir playing an Ajay Jetli in Dil Hai Ki Maanta Nahin or playing ACP Rathore in Sarfarosh, you only see the characters and not the actor and super-star playing it! That is Aamir's USP and that is what makes him stand apart from the Khan Brigade! (Same goes for Saif...but somehow he has never really made it into the top tier like the other three!)

In recent times, he has come across as a rather manipulative, shrewd and downright wicked businesman, who seems to make his films work through sheer marketing strategy and by trampling on other people, rather than on its own merit...but that still does not take away the fact that he is a superbly talented acting genius and people go to watch an Aamir Khan movie knowing that they are getting both entertainment and some degree of intelligence!

Aamir Khan today might be over-rated as a super-star,...but as an actor, I think that he deserves every single praise and accolade that comes his way!

PS: I have no sympathy for SRK being called a Dog or whatever by Aamir...SRK has literally made a career for himself on stage by lampooning Aamir, year after year, in all the Filmfare Functions! SRK quite deserved to be called names, by not just Aamir, but many others too!😆

Thats one issue I have with him...when his movie is up for release he gets associated with some campaign. Once the job is done ie publicity he drops it saying its not his job/he doesnt know much about it. Then why get involved in the first place when you had no guts to see it thru?

Yes even I feel the same. In the 90s he was quite underrated, and I feel no one really cared about Aamir back then in the way they cared about Salman and SRK. Some of his best works were during that period like you said -- but for some reason he was never catapulted into that stardom like SRK and Salman enjoyed back then. Maybe because back then many of his films were kind of offbeat and not like the typical masala fare SRK and Salman did. Anyways, after Lagaan everything changed and he became a part of the big league. He may have become an overnight star after QSQT but the actual success for him came after a decade. He might be overrated, shrewd, manipulative, a jerk, or whatever you want to call him now... but the fact that he is finally getting his much deserved due now (or has been getting for the past few years) everything else just gets overshadowed.

And yes, when it comes to acting no one can't come near him and that's where he scores over the other two Khans. Maybe I'm just being bias but he is the best actor we have right now, according to me.

Btw it's Raghu Jetli, not Ajay Jetli. 😆

I also like the fact that unlike SRK's Raj and Salman's Prem, Aamir has always had the most varied and unusual character names in all his films! Munna, Raja, Ranbir, Raghu, Ajay, Amar, Rohit, Siddharth, Bhuvan, Kishan Pyaare, Aakash, Rehan, Ram Shankar, Rancho...
