Javed akhtar should be last person to criticize it having written some lousy songs himself.
besides that, one has to understand the situation the song is sung in to understand why its sooo gud in a way
its sung by a man who play a crass guy not well versed in english, falls in love with a grt looking educated girl, had the subsequent love failure. He is also drunk when he sings the song
with this song situation, this song is sooo original and aptly describes the situation. Dhanush has done grt justice to the song and situation, thats why its hugely popular. its soo natural in a way
A sad song need not be depressing, it can be fun too
this is why I love the song , the way its sung and catchy lyrics, simple yet soo different

OT: One man's trash is another man's treasure and vice versa.

Having said that, buddha sathiya gayela hain and needs to shut his trap because he comes off as cocky and idiotic. There are better ways to put your opinion forward ESPECIALLY when you are a celebrity criticizing another one.

holy shit. I just saw that video. it was... I dont know. I fell off from my bed after listening his accent. IT WAS SOOO BAD.

white u background night u... W*F does this suppose to mean? I'm guessing its sort of a parody to have bilions of views?

Funny you say this Billa, you're the one who is obsessed with 'hits' and 'numbers'. More often than not you argue with people and claim that a blockbuster surely means the movie itself is good and well-liked for the right reasons.

The accent, the ridiculousness and the 'tanglish' (tamil english lyrics) are all very calculated and planned. It's a play on Indian boys being broken hearted, especially in south india. The way Danush uses English is meant to parody how indian boys very often use english incorrectly, but the ultimatle message is very basic:

Boy falls for girl out of his league: boys heart is broken: Drinks: Rambles emotionally about heartbreak.

With that said. Theres no reason why everyone has to like this song. I like it, but its because i understand the insiders woven into the song because i know tamil and totaly get the hilariousness of 'tamil basha"/"tamil slang".

Javen Akhtar is totaly allowed to dislike it, but commenting on the song and calling it an insult to sensibilities just seems sort of petty for such a great lyricist to do. In all honesty, i didn't even understand why he bothered insulting it. obviously his reputation and his music is fantastic and speaks for itself. He should know that no-one is claiming that kolaveri d is a masterpiece, Its just a funny silly song, clever in its own way.

This song was certainly made with the intention of an ordinary and a funny song with the lyrics. If they really wanted, they could have used proper tamil and used an established singer to sing. So thats the whole point and the reason its getting so much of hype is due to its simplicity, One can't deny that its certainly current craze and its evidence that its spreading everywhere. Javed is entitled to his opinion but imagine if he had came up with a song that made no sense and yet received so much of review, would he have said the song was bullshit or he would have been happy? Learn to accept some fact though the maybe bitter to some people dear Javed!
