I don't agree with this at all. If she wanted to, she could have chosen to play eyecandy in every film of hers and only do commercial movies. She did an art film Chokher Bali in a regional language just after she had a big blockbuster in Devdas which even got her international recognition. If that is not choosing scripts to satisfy her hunger as an actor, I don't know what is.
Saying she was not ambitious or driven is not reasonable. May be she would not cry like Priyanka for two weeks if a film of hers flops, may be she would not shout from the rooftops like Kareena if a film of hers becomes a hit, but saying she is not as ambitious isn't fair. She just keeps a low profile of everything.
And yes, everything was laid on her platter because she was a star even before she entered movies. But saying she didn't have to struggle to establish herself is not fair again. The same attention, similar offers were given to both her and Sushmita. It is obvious who succeeded more. When Sushmita says she cannot work as hard as Ash, it is clear how focussed on her work Ash has been.
She was paid the most because producers thought she was worth it. We cannot attribute it just to her beautiful face. There are thousands of beautiful girls hoping to make it big, but how many succeed? Ash is beautiful, a good actress, a good dancer and is a self-made superstar. She has reached where she has because of her determination, hardwork and professionalism.
P.S. She has more hits than flops and has a better box office record than most other actresses.
