Delivery expected anytime between 2-4 a.m.

Aishwarya is under the care of Dr Vinita Salvi, head of obstetrics and gynaecology at the Andheri hospital. The procedure involves applying a gel on the cervix to induce labour. It is done when the woman is past or close to the expected delivery date, or has uterine problems.

Labour is induced after the doctors take the Bishop's score, a pre-labour scoring system to check the cervical dilation.

Aishwarya has checked in to the hospital's VVIP suite, which consists of a bedroom for the expectant mother, a living room, a kitchen and a toilet.

The Bachchans selected the hospital after Aishwarya's sister-in-law Shrima gave birth to a baby boy there last year.

She has been visiting the hospital for regular check-ups. On Saturday, she was accompanied by hubby Abhishek and sister-in-law Shweta Nanda.

Amitabh Bachchan tweeted around 2am on Monday: "A day of expectation .. but another day ! The Lord has his ways and they are most special .. we wait !!"

Bachchan family is all set to welcome Baby B. Big B had earlier tweeted: "The family gathers together from all over as we wait for the 'arrival' .. Greatest joy for me - a full house and the chahel - pahel."

All Junior Bachhcan wants at the moment is a healthy child.

"I just want her to have a healthy, safe and as comfortable a delivery as possible. Whenever God decides our baby is to be born, we'll welcome him or her with open arms. We still don't know if it's a girl or a boy, all we want is a healthy child," Abhishek had told HT reporter Roshmila Bhattacharya earlier.
