Paheli fails to get Oscar nomination

The nominations for the 78th Annual Academy Awards were announced on Tuesday evening.

However, India's entry to the Oscars in the foreign language category, actor Shah Rukh Khan's Paheli, is out of the race.

Controversial gay cowboy film Brokeback Mountain, reined in eight nominations while the disputed Palestinian film Paradise Now, the tale of two childhood friends who volunteer to be suicide bombers, was nominated for the foreign language category.
