The audiences may not have reacted overwhelmingly to Aamir's presence in RANG DE BASANTI, as is evident from the mixed box-office reports that the film is carrying but the directors of forthcoming Aamir starrers, are definitely exuberant about the film. Director Kunal Kohli whose Aamir-Kajol starrer, FANAAH, is currently under production, is one of them who has been raving about the film ever since he saw it. "It is a brilliant film with one of Aamir's brilliant trademark performances. I enjoyed watching every frame of the film. It was truly great. The last time I had felt similarly about Aamir's performance was in LAGAAN," Kohli exults.
Ask him about FANAAH and the decision to shoot the remainder of the film in Poland after Aamir's reported reluctance to shoot in Kashmir and Kohli withdraws into a discreet silence. "I have decided not to say anything on the film till I complete it and it is there for everyone to see. But of course, Aamir is a great person to work with," he says.
FANAAH is currently 70 percent complete and going by reports, the producers, Yash Raj are targeting a grand Diwali release for the film this year. The film starring Aamir Khan and Kajol in the lead is set against the backdrop of Kashmir and has Aamir playing the role of a terrorist, who in love with an innocent girl, played by Kajol. The film is Kohli's third directorial venture after his last success, HUM TUM. He will talk about the film only two months prior to the release. Tabu and Rishi Kapoor also play important roles in the film.
