Anupama Varma
The Adhikari Bros's soon-to-be launched show, Rishton Ki Dorr, on Sony is turning out to be a knotty relationships saga even before its start. Model-turned-actress Anupama Varma was to play the female lead opposite Anuj Saxena (Jatin of Kumkum, Abhay of Kkusum).

But yesterday Urvashi Dholakia began shooting for the said character. As reported 'Komolika bani Nyonika' (hitList, January 23), Dholakia has been pencilled in to play the female lead.

Varma had shot for three days after a look test with co-star Saxena who plays her husband Suhas. The canned portions included some intimate scenes between the couple.

Says Varma about her exit from the show, "Initially, I was told something, and later on it turned out to be something else."

Not keeping their word

Varma calls the production house's behaviour unethical. "They didn't honour the contract commitment. My fee was decided from Day One. Later, they asked me for a fee cut, which I refused. I didn't want to re-negotiate as I had made things clear earlier."

Cautious approach

This episode has made Anupama a bit wary of TV, "I do a lot of compering for shows and everything's so organised. This incident has made me cautious. I am willing to do TV but not if things turn out to be like this. I had earlier done cameos in Ek Ladki Anjaani Si and Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin and both had proved to be an enjoyable experience," she says.

"Moreover, initially it was a one-hour daily, which was later converted to half-hour so there were a lot of changes on that account to," she adds.

Rishton Ki Dorr (earlier titled Khush Raho Tum Sada) is based on a Western telenovella. It revolves around a middle-class man, Suhas (Saxena), and his three sisters.

After an accident that claims his parents, Suhas has to shoulder the responsibilites of his sisters, causingconflicts with his wife (Varma).

The show is slated to air in March in the soon-to-be- rejuvenated afternoon transmission of Sony.
