Sometime back we saw a new talent Rabbi Shergill rising above the horizon. With the merge of Sufi music and rock, he catapulted the Indian rock to a wide recognition. 'Bulla Ki Jaana' was a smash and people were humming the tune everywhere. The hangover still remains. Taking a step further were Indian Ocean with 'Arre Rukja Re Bandey'. In the similar manner Junoon, Strings and now Fuzon and Jal are opening new routes to the path of rock music. Indian listeners now want something new in terms of sound. Things are no more the same in comparison to the past when rock was just considered as a noise making music. The intense and meaningful lyrics and music of rock is attracting the music lovers. This is the reason the music labels are ready to produce many rock albums in co-ordination to people's preference. Even Bollywood is ready to embrace the new beam of light in music. In the recent past we've heard Jal's tracks, Aadat and Strings rocking the music scene. Luke Kenny says, "Sadly, it has taken Pakistani bands to consolidate the trend of the genre in India. But as long as Hindi rock bands are getting an acceptance, it doesn't matter who did it first." Very true! |
