Tulip Joshi who was last seen in Matrubhoomi has now signed Anwar with the same director, Manish Jha under the banner of Dayal Productions.

Tulip took about a week to say yes to the role. "I had a few questions which is quite natural for any actress to have, before she signs on the dotted line." Did she consult her beau Vinod Nair? "Of course, I did," she laughs.

Anwar will be a love story against a Muslim backdrop. Tulip will play Gul Mehru, a Muslim girl. Says Tulip, "The guy in question is obsessively in love with Gul. I cannot reveal anything more, as that would tantamount to giving the story away."

Anwar will require Tulip to don a burkha. "I am studying a few people on-screen and off-screen, to get into the skin of the character." The film will be shot from next month in a start-to-finish schedule in Lucknow. "I have never been to Lucknow and am looking forward to it," she says.

Won't the long outdoor shoot away from beau bother her? "Of course, it will. Vinod is an integral part of my life now. But I guess he'll come down there, as and when he gets time from work."

Kunal rejects Anwar

Randeep Hooda and Kunal Khemu were approached for the male lead. While Hooda was unavailable for comment, Kunal admits that he had turned down Anwar.

"I liked the role. But Jha wanted me to shoot in February and March. While February was okay, I have already committed myself to Madhur Bhandarkar's Signal in March.I am also doing Mohit Suri's film titled Friends with Emraan Hashmi, so I didn't have the dates."

Tulip, who debuted with Yash Raj Films Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi (Uday Chopra, Jimmy Shergill), is on the verge of signing one plum project in the next few days. And what about marriage? "Vinod and I are busy concentrating on our careers. We are not thinking about marriage now," she adds.
