Lessons that 'Bodyguard' taught to cynics/detracto

'Bodyguard' has crossed 100 crores at the box office much before the extended nine day week came to a close. The film is a superhit already and blockbuster title is just a few crore way. This has pretty much turned out to be a slap on the face of the cynics who had objections to everything related to the film right from the storyline, performances, songs, pace and the twist in the pre-climax.

As is the case with most biggies, there were detractors for 'Bodyguard' as well. When the film did well on Wednesday (the day when it opened), cynics were hoping (many of them almost praying) that the film would crash on Thursday. When that didn't happen, it was attributed to festive season (Eid/Ganesh Chaturhti) helping the film's cause with bets being laid on Friday ending the show for the film. There was some noise curbed when 'Bodyguard' did well on Friday as well while complete silence prevailed for cynics when Saturday/Sunday showed further jump in collections.

By that time it was clear that the Salman Khan-Kareena Kapoor starrer was a superhit at the least and it was now time to count numbers and see whether blockbuster was the next tag in the offering. While those who were well wishers of Bollywood in general and lovers of entertaining flicks were obviously delighted, there was panic amongst those who had predicted a downfall for the film, something that didn't happen even during the weekdays.

A lesson for everyone, especially the ones belonging to film fraternity? This is your own industry. Pray for it to bloom instead of spreading negativity, least of all when it is entirely unncecessary. That would only help the industry grow further and give rise to higher revenue generation.
