Talking about designing for films, she says, "I can't do the OTT Bollywood style of clothing. I accepted this film as it is young and contemporary in its look and feel. For instance, I have designed for the wedding sequence in the movie but the outfits are embroidered and sophisticated rather than blingy and over the top garbs that are shown. It was in sync with my aesthetics. I've worked with Dia before and she is someone who is always well put together," says Ritu. So with the bridal season just around the corner, what is the biggest trend this season? Says Ritu, "I feel bling will take a backseat and gold thread embroidery will be a big thing, as it looks muted and elegant. Sophisticated wedding attire is going to be the next big thing as brides are now well aware of their personas and don't wish to look like overdone mannequins on the biggest day of their lives. Also, sarees will be an eternal part of the wedding ceremonies, besides lehengas." Prod her about Kareena's wedding outfit controversy and she instantly replies, "I don't think it's right to talk about it till they announce their wedding dates. I don't want to talk anything about it." When probed further, she adds in an uncomfortable tone, "These are all rumours and I don't need to drag Kareena's name to get publicity! And why will I do anything wrong at the cost of Kareena-Saif's wedding? I didn't get any calls from either Saif or anybody expressing anger, as I myself have never said I am working on their wedding ensemble! This has been spread by some overactive minds!" |
