"I just wasn't ambitious enough..." may I also add that she wasn't talented enough. Sorry, but I thought Dia Mirza was an average actress. Pretty, yes. But not star material.
Then again, there are plenty of actors/actresses out there with limited talent but doing well for themselves. I guess luck is also a factor.

Hm..Lara is someone who I admire for her oratory skills. To me, she's someone who is attractive in terms of her personality and how she presents herself in the public. But apart from her perfect body, I wouldn't say she's prettier than Dia Mirza. In fact, I never thought Priyanka would go far when she first came in either. I didn't like her in Andaaz either and a lot of her movies in the beginning were just her and her short clothes. I think I really started to appreciate her around Fashion.

Dia had all that X factor stuff working for her. She has that fair skin that Indian people go crazy over (i.e. Katrina, Kareena). She's got the girl-next-door looks. I really thought she was like the next Aishwarya Rai. She looks like a little doll!

Dia was very beautiful. I loved seeing her in videos. She had an innocent angelic beauty that just added magic to videos.

But I didn't like watching her act or talk because she had a child like voice and her acting wasn't good.

Bollywood isn't easy place and if you don't have any contact Plus if you don't have the AMBITION to achieve the top position then you will fall flat. Agreed! And also add to that networking skills. As for the casting couch many people mentioned I am not sure how much that helps in getting the right roles.
