Stars that haven't lived up to their promise

I was just thinking about this today so thought I'd start up a discussion. How many actors are there that showed so much promise in their first movie, but then fizzled out soon after? Or actors that you thought would definitely not make it but ended up surprising you with their talent? I remember being extremely impressed with Imran Khan after JTYJN but he's failed to make a mark on me in any of his following movies (granted I haven't seen Delhi Belly). Other names that come to mind are Vivek Oberoi or Deepika Padukone. On the other hand, I remember not thinking too much of Anushka Sharma in RNBDJ but I think she's done well with her choice of movies so far. Or even Katrina, who I really NEVER thought would make it this far but well, she has and how.

Any other actors/actresses that you think fit the above categories?

Deepika Padukone and Vivek Oberi come to my mind too with your title. Hrithik Roshan is another example (MY opinion...); Abhishek Bachchan has been wasted too.

Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka I really did not have much expectations with post their first film, but they proved me wrong as they went along to work in other films. Saif Ali Khan on screen has been doing some interesting work too.

Hrithik has DEFINITELY been a let down for me as well. I don't think I've enjoyed a single film of his after Fiza.

Sonam kapoor...all her "im doing artistic cinema" talk was a lot of BS.
Not one performance of hers which i find credible. And i was someone who really thought she could act. Dang.

Deepika padukone
Asin

After a blockbuster debut, both went seriously downhill..while asin hasnt been getting many film offers, deepika hasnt had a big hit ever since..and hasnt even been acclaimed that highly for her performances either.

Vivek Oberoi is a decent actor..Its sad that he did not get good films on hand since that controversy happened. The other actors IMO are:
Imran Khan - Delhi Belly wasa good film. I loved his look in the film. I am hoping he comes out of the boy next door roles. He was not really convincing as a playboy in IHLS. I would really like him to do something different in his forthcoming films.
Hrithik - He always looks restrained in every film. I would really like to see him loosen up.
Katrina - I liked her in ZNMD. However, her role dint require much. She was playing herself.

Chatpati, I've missed your posts so much! 😃

I had a lot of expectations for Deepika, Asin, Vivek, Abhishek, Soha Ali Khan, Amrita Rao, Rimi Sen and Aftab Shivdasani which fell flat.

I didn't care much for Ranbir, Kareena, Imran, Genelia, or even Saif for that matter. I think HumTum was the film in which I was won over by Saif's acting because before that I thought he wasn't really meant for the big screen. It took me a while to get used to Ranbir onscreen too because he has that "Spoiled Kapoor" label but I appreciate that he tries to experiment with his roles so early in his career.

After watching Namastey London I knew Katrina was going to find a niche for herself in Bollywood, but I never thought the day would come that the other more seasoned actresses would be trying to ape her.

Deepika is the first one that comes to mind. After OSO, it just went downhill.

Vivek Oberoi too...he had a promising debut with Company and I thought he'd make it pretty big but nothing really happened. Today, he is neither idhar ka nor udhar ka.

Sonam...I had a feeling that she's be really good in Saawariya but I was disappointed. I didn't think much of her Delhi-6 performance either but maybe I should watch it again. Hopefully, she'll live up to the expectations in Mausam.

Ranveer Singh totally surprised me in BBB. Looking forward to his future line-ups.

I thought Anuskha would disappear after RNBDJ but she's still around and is getting pretty good offers. I wasn't impressed with her in RNBDJ, but really liked her performance in BBB.

Katrina...never had I imagined that she'd be the most sought after female celebrity in Bollywood. 😆 Same with Kareena...I never expected her to get this far in Bollywood, but surprise surprise!

Ranbir has definitely lived upto his promise.

For some reason, I thought that Mimoh (Mithun's son) would really make it big.

Aww koolchick, it's definitely been a whille.

I have to say, for some reason, I was obsessed with Rimi Sen as well. When Hungama came out, I thought she would be the next biggest thing ever 😆

Sacchi Smartie😆

When I saw Hungama for the first time, I thought Rimi could seriously have found a place for herself in Bollywood but that obviously didn't happen.
Soha was hyped so much I thought she also would go far...and Aftab was so good in those comedy movies but then he just disappeared

FYI, I also found him super hot too😉😆

Chatpati: I've been youtubing the Hungama songs for the past ten minutes now😆
