Manav Gohil's singularly unique style statement is his wristband, which carries his cell phone and Bluetooth. The telly actor, of late, has always been spotted with this accessory that has evoked strange reactions.

"People wonder what I have tied around my wrist. When they decipher what it is, they exclaim 'it is a real cool thing'. While some wonder where on earth did I get it from?" says Gohil.

The actor has been wearing it for the last couple of months. "I don't step out of the home without it. In fact I have worn it on my show as well. In CID, I was with the wristband in one of the episodes."

Gohil has a small collection of these wristbands in different colours though he sticks to black and brown "as the other colours look extremely childish. But there are some bizarre colours too like the one in maroon. My idea was to match it with my shoe colour; but now I prefer to wear black only."

Trial and error

Gohil has taken pains to design it as well as get it just right. "It has been through a lot of trial-and-error and now finally it's perfect. It was a bit uncomfortable initially but it was all in the mind. Now I can just do anything while wearing it — eat, drink... When I am driving, I just need to put the Bluetooth on the ear instead of fidgeting with the phone. And more importantly, I know that I will never leave behind my cell anywhere."

Made in Baroda

The actor's made-to-order pure leather wristband pouch has been specially ordered and designed for him in Baroda.

"I saw a photograph of a mobile and a Bluetooth case at a mall in Bangkok. That image stayed on my mind. Back home, I decided to design it exactly the way I wanted it to be. I had a friend in Baroda who deals with such stuff, I explained to him and he custom-made it for me."

Cops came calling

Though Gohil terms the wristband as an "integral gadget to his personality" which people take notice of, there was an instance when he was grilled by the cops ——- they wondered what he was armed with! "It happened last year in June when I was holidaying in Atlantic City, USA. I was at a casino when the police swooped on me and asked me what was in the pouch. I had to explain to them that it was a mere custom-made phone pouch."

Besides the wristband, Gohil is also into watches and shades. "That's my way of making a style statement," he says.

Manav's acting front

Manav Gohil is presently seen in Remix (Star One). He earlier featured in CID (Sony) and as co-anchor of Fame Gurukul (Sony) with Mandira Bedi. "I am looking at other offers," he says. "I can take on another show with Remix," says the actor who has been getting anchoring offers but would rather act for now.
