Just a day after Madhur Bhandarkar [ Images ] expressed his disappointment over having been kept in the dark about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's [ Images ] pregnancy, Amitabh Bachchan [ Images ] spoke up in Ash's defense in an interview to Mumbai-based newspaper DNA.

The Big B [ Images ] is apparently miffed with reports that Ash's backing out of Heroine has resulted in monetary losses to the production house to the tune of Rs 18 crore. He said that all such reports are false.

Bachchan argued that every actor has a right to get married and have children. 'Everybody knew that Aishwarya was married when she signed the film. So you mean to say that actors can't get married or have children? I don't think this can be a part of any contract that you cannot get married or have children if you working in a project,' Amitabh told the newspaper.

The actor is also upset with UTV, the production house. Shoebite, his film with the studio that he'd shot for a while ago, is still to see the light of the day.

While Ash has refrained from making any comments on the developments so far, a source says that she wasn't paid anythng for the film.

The controversies surrounding actor Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan's pregnancy and the film Heroine she was slated to do, are accelerating by the day. The latest has filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar lashing out at Aishwarya saying that she 'hid the truth' about her pregnancy, while the Bachchans are apparently upset with rumours of a loss to the tune of Rs18 crore doing the rounds.

"Whatever has happened between Aishwarya, Madhur (Bhandarkar, co-producer) and UTV (co-producer) is between them. I know that the rumours going around are not true. I hope that the truth comes out soon," said actor Amitabh Bachchan on his way back from Ajmer Dargah on Monday.

According to Bachchan, all rumours of a huge monetary loss (which was also hinted at by Madhur) are false. "Everybody knew that Aishwarya was married when she signed the film. So you mean to say that actors can't get married or have children? I don't think this can be a part of any contract that you cannot get married or have children if you working in a project," adds Bachchan.

Bachchan is upset with the banner, UTV too. "I had completed Shoe Bite long back. I had also invested my time into it and completed the film which was based on Johnny Walker. I have never indulged in this kind of talk even though the film has not been released till now and I have no word about when it will be released," says Bachchan.

Though Aishwarya is apparently not ready to react to Madhur's allegation, a friend of the actress told DNA saying that she has not accepted any compensation for the film.

"They have not paid her anything for the film. All this hue and cry about losses is false as they had only shot for seven to 10 days, out of which the first few days were spent in photo-shoots and location shoots. The actual film shooting hadn't even begun. Ash is very upset with the fact that she's being targeted for being pregnant — a time when people should be happy for her," says the source adding that besides Shoebite, other complete films like David Dhawan's Hook Ya Crook (John Abraham- Genelia D' Souza starrer) too are lying in the cans.

The Bachchans, apparently, are still not in favour of suing Madhurover his remarks.

AB's comments do not make sence.Yes actors can get married and can have kids.But sometimes actors can not perform certain scenes when she is pregnant.Ir is a matter of common sence.So in this situation the director has nothing to do except replace the actor.Nobody is saying that being pregnant is a crime but hiding your 4 months pregnancy from the director and then force the director to postpone the shoot is sure a crime.

And when a shoot is posponed there is bound to be some loses.Why is AB behaving like a 4 years old kid who does not know the ethics of Bollywood?

The day when Abhishek, instead of BigB, gets to say something about his wife to the media, would be more thrilling for him than getting an ATBB.

Coming to the article .. AB is doing the usual ... mixing together several issues (and non issues)and trying to divert attention from the core problem which was Ash not telling the makers as soon as she found out that she is pregnant ...

Clearly Ash is the bigger culprit here and cant be defended..otherwise Pa would not have come across like a fool.

freaking focus on the argument at hand, Bachchan sir!

No one said anything about Aishwarya not having the right to get pregnant

Question is why the fudge she didn't tell the freaking director, the director of a movie which doesn't WANT her pregnant!

And about his figures-

he lied about BHTB's figures 😆 so I'm not gonna take his word on his claim that the monetary losses were a lie

Glad someone of the family has spoken! Kinda knew that Aishwarya wouldn't say a word maybe later she will! But right know she will focuss on her baby I guess, maybe it is better for her to concentrate on her baby than this drama! Glad Big B spoke about the money issue, a lot of movies get shelved for different reasons. Be it producers fault, director fault or the actors faults. It happens! This is not the first time. Maybe it is Aishwarya fault she should have told in the beginning but then again she has every right not to do it in the first three months. She hasn't committed any crime? I really think she thought she could complete the movie being pregnant but I guess the director had another opinion. But for Bhandkar to make such big issue about is also not right in mine opinion. It is not like he will be jobless for now on? Big B says they even didn't start shooting for the movie and Aishwarya didn't get paid. If he doesn't want to work with Aishwarya get another actress why make this drama about it? It really doesn't make sence! I guess there is more to the story but is up to Aishwarya to tell!
