No problem. My realtives are and keep telling me on him and Madz and their happening jodi. I know my parents and other relatives are gaga over them especially Madz. But thats them😆
Also, I could not use the ones I am gaga over as they are not as recognized but I am educating non-indians on them like Salman, Hrithik, Akshay😉 and the newer lot , Ranveer, Imran, etc😉
Also, I started my discussion on the interactions I had. I guess our experiences were not the same. I am glad slumdog came out because now Bolly is getting more interest amongst non-indians😊

@Eraser, I was going to reply in the other thread, but will here. We should stalk Akshay and Salman when they visit Toronto,Canada😉 and gather others so he get the same star treatment as abroad😆

Hell the average layman does not even care that much abotu their own mega stars,. Angie, Pitt... you name it. They can walk in central park in broad daylight and nobody would rush for autographs. People here are not star struck (I am not including hormonal preteens or rockstar groupies here for obvious reasons).

I agree. I live in the States and I do not know not one non-desi know who he is or any other Bollywood star for that matter. If the younger generation knew who he was then my professor showed us Asoka a few days ago in my class and no one knew him. They might have an idea of who he is now but not before Asoka.

Maybe SRK is a mass hysteria in other places but I do not think that is the same case with the States.

As far as I know the average Brit (non-desis) in the UK has a better chance of knowing Ash more than anyone else incl SRK.

The media here drool over anything Ash does or Ash wears.

In that case Eraser and Ksharti, I wouldn't know. I have not had any significant bollywood interactions with Non-desis. I lived in a dorm for 4 years surrounded by non-desis 24/7 and the only thing they (some I should say) knew was bollywood=singing and dancing, they were not familiar with the names of any actors from India. Unless of course you ask the culturally aware ones, those would know about movies like Fire, Apu trilogy, Gandhi etc. But I'm talking about an average American, I don't think he would be able to tell the difference between a Shah rukh and a Salman.

I agree.

SRK came on the Golden Globes a few years ago when Slumdog Millionaire was the major movie at that time! Do you remember that Eraser? I didn't like it at all, he tried way to hard! 😕

When it comes to overseas, SRK's star power/BO pull is unmatched.
If you look at BOI's highest grossing movies overseas, 4 of the top 5 belong to SRK. Aamir's 3 Idiots being the only non-SRK grosser in the top 5 (and that too it's at #4).

and most of those movies are Johar/Chopra masterpieces! 😆

Even Madhuri Dixit who lives in Denver can shop at Costco and noone will notice that she even exists! She lives like a normal housewife and has said that in some interviews over the years! 😊

Nobody really mobs Bollywood stars in Mumbai as well. I have seen several stars on various occasions and apart from the fresh batch of UP/biharis, no one really gives them much attention. IT's common for one to spot bollywood celebs if you are living in Bandra/Juhu/Andheri-West.. It's not a big deal really.

The story is much different in North India. Once an entire road was blocked and there was choc-a-bloc traffic when I spent a few months in Patna. I found out that TV actress Shweta Tiwari was there to inaugurate Bihar's first shop with an escalator. In Delhi too, people get excited at the sighting of even minor celebs such as TV actors or reality show contestants.
