I dont think SRK is popular enough to be stopped for autographs by non-desi people but I was commenting that in terms of bollywood, his is the international symbol of bollywood movies (in the interactions that I have had with non desi people)
I agree. I live in the States and I do not know not one non-desi know who he is or any other Bollywood star for that matter. If the younger generation knew who he was then my professor showed us Asoka a few days ago in my class and no one knew him. They might have an idea of who he is now but not before Asoka.Originally posted by: Dexterphile
Believe you me, nobody in the States besides the Desi population cares about Sharukh, Amitabh Aishwarya or any other bollywood star. Hell the average layman does not even care that much abotu their own mega stars,. Angie, Pitt... you name it. They can walk in central park in broad daylight and nobody would rush for autographs. People here are not star struck (I am not including hormonal preteens or rockstar groupies here for obvious reasons).

In that case Eraser and Ksharti, I wouldn't know. I have not had any significant bollywood interactions with Non-desis. I lived in a dorm for 4 years surrounded by non-desis 24/7 and the only thing they (some I should say) knew was bollywood=singing and dancing, they were not familiar with the names of any actors from India. Unless of course you ask the culturally aware ones, those would know about movies like Fire, Apu trilogy, Gandhi etc. But I'm talking about an average American, I don't think he would be able to tell the difference between a Shah rukh and a Salman.

As far as I know the average Brit (non-desis) in the UK has a better chance of knowing Ash more than anyone else incl SRK.
The media here drool over anything Ash does or Ash wears.

When it comes to overseas, SRK's star power/BO pull is unmatched.
If you look at BOI's highest grossing movies overseas, 4 of the top 5 belong to SRK. Aamir's 3 Idiots being the only non-SRK grosser in the top 5 (and that too it's at #4).

Even Madhuri Dixit who lives in Denver can shop at Costco and noone will notice that she even exists! She lives like a normal housewife and has said that in some interviews over the years! 😊

He recently had his comeback hit with Sitaare Zameen Par. Shahrukh and Salman are nowhere to be seen. Aamir Khan will also be producing that...
What’s the plot behind all this? These two brothers don’t get along https://www.instagram.com/p/DNaCjQlB_NN/?igsh=MWE1bjNidGhtbm9zYg==
Salman wanted to do the remake of that Italian film on which Sitaare Zameen par had been made, he share this with Aamir. Instead of leaving it...
