After you mentioned, I did compare this look with one of Kahlo's self-portraits.

If Sonam was indeed channeling Frida Kahlo then that explains the melancholy and olive skin color. Frida Kahlo's self-portraits always had distraught look. Strictly from that point of view, Sonam did carry the look. I wonder at the need for going to this extreme at a party though.

Minishha is looking so beautiful in this picture.

I really like her dress and love her hairstyle...she is looking very good.

Sonam at the Chopard event - bad bad bad. The dress, the hair and the make up all look awful. She does look awfully tired though .. and like others have mentioned she just doesn't seem confident!

Mallika looks super cute in the two dresses she wore at some events.

Minissha looks super cute too in that dress!

Aish, Mallika, Minisha all looked so goood at the non-red carpet events than on the actual red carpet, where as Sonam was the complete opposite!
