Aish-Abhi were covered hugely by Global press at the Oscars !!!
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan regarded as the mascot of Indian films globally,and husband Abhishek Bachchan were the only two who were covered in the global coverage.They have also been written about widely in the international press & she was also praised for her gown.In the Indian coverage,they were given their due time though with a full fledged interview.
Academy award winner Colin Firth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan go back.They first met when they acted in the Hollywood big budget movie The Last Legion (2006) and they have stayed in touch.So naturally this year the actress was rooting for Colin at the Oscars.She was seen cheering when he won the Best Actor award for The Kings Speech.She even raised a toast for him.Colin was ecstatic with his Oscar win and was overheard saying he couldn't believe he was holding the trophy in his hand.
However,we hear that Colins trip to India is anyway overdue as Ash had extended an invitation to him when they last worked together.
The case of Mallika Sherawat is most curious.She hollers about her LA connections,and how she hobnobs with the best in business in Beverly Hills and even puts up details on her social networking site.But thats all it is.Talk,talk,talk.At this years Oscars coverage,even in the Indian broadcast,there was just a fleeting shot of her she wasnt even asked to give a byte.The global coverage too did not give any attention to the Hissss actress.Its time the actress stopped boasting about the AListers she dines and parties with,and to start concentrating on her flagging career in BTown,where she would get a little attention.
Ashutosh Gowariker and his son Konark were also present at this high on star power event.The Indian broadcast had his interview but again globally,despite being an Oscarnominated director for Lagaan,he was ignored.
AR Rahman,was an exception.He got his due credit.However truth remains that most Indians
celebs even with their individual feats are not part of the West,unlike actors and directors from other countries like (England,France,Italy).Even after so many years,the only Indian name known to the West is Satyajit Ray and Mrinal Sen.Thanks to Martin Scorsese,Robert De Niro and Meryl Streep,these filmmakers got their recognition.Ray owes his lifetime Oscars to Martin and Meryl who lobbied heavily for him with the Oscar jury.Apart from these handful talents,Hollywood still is a no entry zone fenced with barbed wires for Indians.
