The Classic "Sahib Biwi Aur Ghulam", revisited

Mumbai, Feb 28, 2011 (Washington Bangla Radio / Kreation Guru) "Na Jaao Saiyan Chura Ke Baiyan" song sung by Geeta Dutt in the Film Sahib Biwi Aur Ghulam was one of the most popular songs sung from the 1962 film. Pritish Nandy and Rangita Nandy plan to produce the remake of the big box office hit of the yester year and recreate the magic once again at the multiplexes.

This Salman Khan starrer film is yet to take to the sets. The director of the movie is yet not decided by the production house. The names of directors like Rituparno Ghosh, Deepa Mehta of the 'Fire', 'Water' fame or Shaad Ali is under consideration for the new project. It will be a tough task as the expectations from the director will be high. He or she would have to match up to the standard of excellence set by its predecessor.

The central role is being much talked about as Salman Khan is the actor who is being considered for it, but none of the characters in the film are finalized as of yet. Selecting the pending star cast of the remake is a Herculean task for the producers and casting team of the remake of a classic. Salman is considered for the Guru Dutt played role of Bhoot Nath, the character of the servant who comes to work for the Zamindar. The wife of the Zamindar or the ruler is being neglected as her husband is preoccupied with alcohol and dancing ladies. The role played by Guru Dutt was that of the Bhooth Nath in the 1962film. Salman wants to play the same role as was acted by Guru Dutt but the directors and producers have other plans for him and wish him to play the role of the Zamindar.

The role of Bhooth Nath the servant will be a difficult character to play and Salman Khan is all set to take a dive and play the role which may earn him more accolades for his acting skills. This character who is a servant comes to adopt to a city life to serve the Zamindar will come close to the mistress who is doomed to lead a life of. The mistress who is ditched in love wants to drown her sorrow in drinks but keep her heart attached to a dignified life. Monisha Koirala was also an option to play one of the roles as one of the important actresses. It is yet to be seen when the final cast is picked and the shooting starts off with a good start.

The Bimal Dutt written classic novel was made into a box office hit by Guru Dutt who took the film to Berlin. The new celluloid version of the film Sahib Biwi aur Ghulam needs an important female character to play the part of Choti Bahu. As per the rumours; Aishwarya Rai and Priyanka Chopra are being considered for this meaty role. Choti Bahu by Waheeda Rehman set the character at a high pedestal and will make the audience wait to see how the new actors perform. The full team consists of Salman Khan Priyanka Chopra, Vidya Balan, Raima Sen, John Abraham and Annu Kapoor. The remake of the classic film will be a test for all involved with the project.

they have been saying that priyankas doing this movie since like 2005.... and this article writer doesnt seem very credible. also y wuld they consider aishwariya if salman is pleaying the lead

god once againa a false hope to the fans..

one of the awesomest stories on Indian screen.....I 've read the book too and its even better...stays with u for a long - long time!!!

and Oh please...dont even attempt remaking it...Salman and PC...naheeeeeeen!!!!!
