I actually thought Udaan & Guzaarish had decent music. I really liked Udaan songs. They were quite meaningful. =/

and it'd be worth checking maybe even just filmfare's list of past "best song" winners.

one would come to realize that "popularitayyy" hasn't always prevailed.

I agree totally. Pehli nazar, Tera hone laga hoon are such beautiful songs in terms of lyrics & music, & I am sure some other singers like Sonu, Shaan, KK, etc could have done full justice to it. Its just that most of the youngsters today get attracted to a UNIQUE voice like Atifs & donot pay attention to the quality, & he is lucky to get good songs too. At the end of the day he too is a Himesh Reshammiya type singer, he gained fame in the beginning & now is in a downfall. And I m sure the same will be the case of atif one day too. (jst my POV)

that's a pretty hefty generalization

what you said might be applicable to a lower age range (another generalization I just made), but maybe not for a lot of others.

and its not about the "speed" of the song, is it?

I just wanted to add my two cents over the "Atif can't sing" debate 😆 I do agree that Atif is not a complete singer. He does tend to go off-key. And a member rightly posted that Atif has received criticism in his home country- Pakistan as well over his singing ability. But depsite that, Atif has gained rockstar status in the Subcontinent. He manages to churn out hits, which is why Music Directors approach him.

I think other singers are entitled to hold their own opinion. Sunidhi did call Atif besura and that's absoloutely fine because that is her opinion.She herself is from the same field and can state her POV. But I think Abhijeet and Aadesh over stepped the mark on a couple of occasions with the manner in which they spoke of him. There is a difference between criticising and showing disrespect. If you have serious reservations over someone's singing abilities, that does not mean you have to resort to insults. It's obvious that Atif is in public demand, otherwise his songs would not be a hit. I guess there is something in Atif's voice which has clicked with the music listeners.

But the criticism of Shafqat goes over my head forget Mitwa, Yeh Hosla from Dor always makes me teary eyed.

KK , the most amazing yet underrrated singer doesnt ever recieve nominations
its always ARR who steals it, not all his songs are marvelous or exception. JHS was good last year,but nothing great!

Jai ho wasn't exception either, i never liked it............JAII HOO..what does it even mean lol

Me too guys, but I didn't mention them b/c I didn't think anyone else liked them, but honestly, some of the best music isn't always the most popular music!!
