I just thought this video showcased a side of Aamir that not many people get to see. I know many people think Aamir is arrogant. He's clearly not very good with his words and that combined with his bluntness/frankness always makes his interviews seem arrogant. Which he very well might be but I always get the feeling that he's quite humble and down to earth from his public appearances.

that speech was truly very heartfelt and emotional, he seemed genuinely moved by the appreciation that he received for TZP. I don't really care about aamir's public 'image' as such, in fact I like his nonchalant attitude towards our plastic award ceremonies and dumb media, the only thing that bothers me is his attitude towards his fans.

I feel, if not to receive awards and appear for chat shows, he should make a few appearances in public only to address the fans. they're the ones who made him the ace khan and they're the ones who can break him too. that's my only complaint, otherwise I feel he's genuinely a great actor and director.

Thank you for posting, Chatpati. Indeed this is a different side to Aamir that not many people have seen. I never thought of Aamir as an emotional person and didn't think he was the type to breakdown. But I guess that goes to show that we don't really know the real celebrity. It is only what we see in interviews, shows etc....and then we create an image in our minds. His speech was very genuine and when he said he wished his mother was here, now that really gave me a lump in my throat...

i saw this last year and for the first time I felt we saw a different side to aamir.

Just in case if people are wondering what the award is all about and why Aamir for once collected his award here it goes-

Gollapudi Srinivas Memorial Foundation

While directing his dbut Telugu film "Prema Pustakam", Gollapudi Srinivas succumbed to a water accident on August 12, 1992. The Telugu film industry lost a promising director. The Maruthi Rao family established the Gollapudi Srinivas Memorial Foundation to perpetuate the memory and instituted an annual cash award for the Best Dbut Director chosen from among the Indian language films. As part of the event, every year, an eminent Indian film personality gives the keynote lecture.

This does show a really different side of him😊

I think he comes off as arrogant because he tries hard to bring in new "kinds" of cinema that the public isn't used to viewing at all. He especially sounds like it when he's explaining how he wants to "open our eyes to new, intelligent movies" but I think he just has problems wording his sentences😆

Yeah, I wouldn't like to attribute all the "arrogance" to his failure to find words (although I really do think he's horrible at interviews and formulating his thoughts). I'm sure he is arrogant, as is every actor in the film industry. I just think he's terrible at masking it (and this is where his awfulness at interviewing comes in 😆).

Thanks for sharing. I like Aamir...he is a good actor and director 👏 but I don't understand why he doesn't attened certain award functions and goes to certain other award functions.

This is his choice definetly but I feel he likes to recieve only the prominent kind of awards....Padma shri, Padmabhusan, Nationa Award etc.....When it comes to Filmfare and other smaller award functions he doesn't want to recieve it....It liked saying I won't drink tea from a smaller shop but if it's from a 5 Star Hotel then I will take it with both hands
