Isi life mein- anyone interested?

Recently I heard about this film from salman khan on twitter. I don't know about many people but I've been eargerly waiting for it to release. I have always been a rajashri fan, loved all the films made under that banner. Surprisely, there was no promotion for this film, which is very weird. I only saw the lead pair promoting it on big boss. I've never seen any trailers or promos on telly. I wonder why they never made an effort? Especially when it's releasing on the same day as TMK. On one hand, Farah is out there promoting her film on every single platform and on the other hand, there is no news of this film. My friends and cousins were thinking of watching TMK but i convinced them to watch isi life mein with me. I mean that's how much I was looking forward to it. But on one seems to care, there's no topic with reviews. How come? Is anyone interested? If anyone watched it then please provide me with a review.

they also came on saregamapa to promote the movie, & the fan page of this movie on FB is HUGE! I prefer the old rajshri movies, but anyway looks like a lot of people are also waiting for this movie. But i didnt even knw this movie was coming or even existed until they came on SGMP😆 They should've promoted it more.

While surfing television the other day, I chanced upon this hugely popular show that has a nonconforming storyline of two women vying for the same man's attention. One happens to be his sweetheart turned wife, the other, his ex wife, who, I realized, is pregnant with the man's child. Ironically, both women live in the same house. Since I had heard a lot about this show, I decided to watch the entire episode that evening. I was keen to assess if it held my attention for the next 20 odd minutes. It did. The drama, the conflict between the characters, the emotions, the situations the characters had landed into, all kept me hooked.

Okay, so why am I discussing a television program? Well, I have come to realize that practically every paarivaarik theme is tackled by television these days. I have also come to realize that television does far more justice to these themes than films. Which is what I strongly felt while watching ISI LIFE MEIN.

Come to think of it, Rajshri Productions is synonymous with memorable films that became an instant hit with family audiences. The turning point was two films, MAINE PYAR KIYA and HUM AAPKE HAIN KOUN. Trendsetters both. These two films brought family audiences back to theatres, infusing life in the veins of a critically ill film industry then. These two films, besides DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE and KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI, opened new vistas and horizons, gave birth to an altogether new breed of film-makers and reinforced confidence in Hindi cinema then.

ISI LIFE MEIN tries so hard to be cool as well as a perfect family film in the same breath, but what comes across on screen is a lifeless fare. The love story doesn't work, neither does the paarivaarik portions. The culprit, you guessed it right, is the written material yet again.

Final word? A major letdown!

ISI LIFE MEIN tells the story of two teenagers - Akshay Oberoi and Sandeepa Dhar. Akshay is from Mumbai, while Sandeepa hails from Ajmer. Sandeepa arrives in Mumbai for further studies and meets Akshay, who heads the dramatics department of the college. They are drawn towards each other, but don't express their feelings till the end.

Besides highlighting a present-day love story, director Vidhi Kasliwal remains faithful to the Rajshri tradition of showing the traditional side as well. The story re-introduces you to a world many of us may have consigned to oblivion thanks to the barrage of urban-centric themes that are churned out with amazing regularity. The film talks of familial bonding. It also packs in desi sentiments. But the problem is that the noble intentions don't come across convincingly on celluloid.

In terms of screenplay, ISI LIFE MEIN is structured on the lines of HUM AAPKE HAIN KOUN. The story barely moves in the first hour, but the film changes gears during the second half. Frankly, you expect a dramatic twist in the tale, but nothing happens. Ideally, the film should've concluded when the father [Mohnish Bahl] calls off his daughter's marriage, but the 'Taming Of The Shrew' episode and the bizarre culmination only makes the goings-on tedious.

Like most Rajshri films, the characters here are saccharine sweet. In fact, they are too good to be true and that, in my opinion, looks fake. Technically, it's a decent attempt, but content-wise, like I said, there is no plot at all. Music was always one of the USPs of Rajshri, but the music of ISI LIFE MEIN is below par. The songs are better filmed, though.

The only noteworthy aspect of the film is its lead pair. Akshay Oberoi is talented - no two opinions on that. He has good screen presence, but most importantly, he acts very well. Sandeepa Dhar is another talent that catches your attention. Her expressions are just perfect. Also, she's extremely photogenic. Salman Khan is wasted in a cameo. Mohnish Bahl is his usual self. Shagufta Ali is okay. Prachi Shah does well. Aditya Raj Kapoor is wooden.

On the whole, ISI LIFE MEIN lacks the Rajshri stamp. It tries so hard to be cool, but ends up falling flat on its face.

Rajeev Masand: 'Isi Life Me' is a half-baked melodrama

In a scene in director Vidhi Kasliwal's 'Isi Life Mein', the film's male lead Vivaan (played by newcomer Akshay Oberoi) is contemplating an adaptation of 'The Taming of the Shrew' for an inter-collegiate dramatics competition. A friend points out to him that the play had an "MCP ending", to which our hero delivers this priceless gem: "No offence Mr Shakespeare Sir, but we're going to do it our way!"

It's an ironic dialogue showing up in a film from Rajshri Productions, a banner that could do with a little reinvention of its own.

'Isi Life Mein' is exactly and precisely what you'd expect from it. Nothing more, unfortunately. There is a squeaky-clean small-town girl who tops her school board exams, but understands there's no question of further study because she must be married. There's her father who decides the only skill she must acquire now is cooking. There's the hip city boy who is drawn to her simple charm. And there's a clash between tradition and modernity.

This all-too-familiar tale channels 'Maine Pyar Kiya' and 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' in its core ideology, but doesn't seem to possess the conviction of either film. There is a tedious predictability to the plot, and the characters are all bland caricatures that mouth clunky lines like: "Tumhare modern peedhi se mujhe yehi ummeed thi!"

Director Vidhi Kasliwal makes a concentrated effort to disguise this movie as more contemporary than previous Rajshri films by throwing in a conversation about sex between the film's leads, and even offers a female character who uses the f-word liberally. These are mere cosmetic touches, however. I don't think I've ever seen a more sanitized chat about sex, and even the bindaas girl with the potty mouth is taught to gargle each time a cuss word slips out.

The film's female protagonist Rajnandini (I kid you not, that is her name!), played by newcomer Sandeepa Dhar, is a throwback to Bhagyashree's character Suman in 'Maine Pyar Kiya', but without the mischievous spunk. Like her, the film too takes itself way too seriously, and therein lies its flaw.

I'm going with two out of five for debutant director Vidhi Kasliwal's 'Isi Life Mein'. It's hard to relate to the film's impossible idealism or its one-dimensional leads. Watch it if you're a sucker for those archaic family melodramas!

Bollywood is ending the year 2010 with a significant change; its movies even belonging to big banners have started casting new faces. After Ranveer Singh made a mark in 'Band Baaja Baaraat', it's the turn of two newcomers beginning their innings in Bollywood before the end of 2010. Rajshri Productions hits theaters with its latest flick titled 'Isi Life Mein' on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2010. Incidentally, the movie is debut for its lead cast of Akshay Oberoi and Sandeepa Dhar and also its director Vidhi Kasliwal, the niece of Barjatyas. Vidhi has made a light-hearted entertainer spiced with wisdom.

The movie centers around the lives and beliefs of two teenagers - Vivaan played by Akshay Oberoi (Yes, Viveik Oberoi's cousin) and Rajnandini played by Sanddeepa Dhar. The movie highlights their efforts and capabilities to make it big in their respective worlds. Rajnandini is a small town girl brought up in a traditional family inhibited with true family cultures and customs. Her parents wish to marry her early instead of letting her pursue her dreams. However, her mother helps her skip to Mumbai to fulfill her passion. On the other hand, Vivaan along with his gang of friends, leads a quirky and freaky life in Mumbai. Music is his passion and obsession. However, his father wants him to become a Chartered Accountant. As the luck would have it, Rajnandini's mother's sister (Mausi) gets her niece admitted in a Mumbai college.

Vivaan and Rajnandini cross each other's path in the college and soon share similar understandings. However, their parents have their own mindsets. Thus, the movie reflects today's social scenario faced by the new generation. Do the teenagers finally overcome the old traditions and fulfill their dreams and aspirations in this very life ('Isi Life Mein') is the moot question raised in the movie. Though Rajshri Productions is known for their hits in this particular genre , it faces tough competition from two other much hyped movies - 'Tees Maar Khan' starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif , and 'Toonpur Ka Superhero' starring Ajay Devgn and wife Kajol, releasing simultaneously .

'Isi Life Mein' is a good entertainer for the teenagers who would find it very close to their heart. At the same time, it imparts a good advice to the old generation too; they should learn to allow their children to live their own lives! If it succeeds in changing the old outlook, the producer and the director would heave a sigh of relief. Hence, the plot and the screenplay are well connected.Meet Bros, Anjan and Ankit have provided the music to the lyrics penned by Manoj Muntashir. As far as the debut director Vidhi Kasliwal is concerned, she is the daughter of Barjatyas and has taken filmmaking in her stride. She recalls her grandfather Tarachand Barjatya (who founded Rajshri Productions in 1947) asking her to write a love story for the new generation. "I not only wrote 'Maine Pyar Kiya' but also ended up directing it', she adds. Besides, she is too proud that Salman Khan has blesses her movie with his presence, though briefly.

Acting-wise too, the movie succeeds as the two newcomers fare very well. In fact, the debutant director shows the way to her seniors that while portraying college life, only teenagers, maybe freshers, should be preferred.

I have added the reviews I could find lol but to me I think if you think the film looks good then watch it but the critics have given it a bad review 🤣

Thanks a lot, ruky! I have always been a loyal rajishri fan so I might wait for the film to be downloaded by someone. I think it's just like uff kia jadoo mohabbat hai, dont think many people know about it. It was made under rajishri banner aswell.
