hey guys....

just wanted to open up a discussion topic for sriram raghavan, one of those tragically under-hyped(not underrated) directors of the country....Started off with Ek hasina thi, then came up with Johnny gaddar..and is now getting ready with agent vinod.

His genre of films has always been edgy and racy thrillers, with a rock solid script, screenplay and terrific performances. They are very "guy type" films and have a heavy influence of Quentin Tarantino's style of film-making. But his efforts are always original and creative. The way he uses technical departments like cinematography, sound recording, background music etc is just incredible...i think hes one director who can sure balance both style and substance beautifully...

what are ur views about him as a director/writer??Do u like his kind of films? Are u looking forward to agent vinod??
Do share ur views.

Great topic smarie pants. I agree he is really underrated as a director. Don't understand why he is so underrated. I have seen so many people say they loved JG and EHT. He def has a very unique and different way of doing films. His films have that realism feel...very Hollywood like. I def can't wait for Agent Vinond....mainly because it has bebo and saif in it. They both seem like they have good roles. AM too excited for this.

I have loved both of his films- actually he said that he was ver inspired by old Vijay Anand movies too.

Hie movies have been simple, screenplay tight and he has extracted superlative performances form his star cast.

In my opinion Dharmendar's best role to date was in Johny Gaddar.

yeh...although he has a very"hollywood-esque" style to his films, they never seem like a wannabe or like hes aping hollywood...the flavour of his films is soo indian yet they still manage to be stylish and edgy...

lensa...i dunt think his films reached a lot of ppl coz they were essentially small budget ones with an ordinary starcast....so ppl might not have been interested in watching them dismissing them as "just another bollywood muvie trying to ape hollywood" like most of the muvies produced by the bhatt camp do...

either ways,...agent vinod has a big budget and a good star cast...hopefully, tht should get him exposure, and give him the recognition he deserves.

My fav scene in Johny Gaddar was when Dharmender gets shot and is about to get killed he goes to the tape-recorder to listen to his wife singing.

That scene was so real yet so dramatic.

Its not everyday you can extract a subtle performance from Dharam paaji.

He is a very underrated director, better than many of of the "great" directors we have. His films are edgy and have a very tight screenplay..haven't seen JG but Ek Hasina Thi was awesome! He extracts really good performances from his actors as well..

Definitely he is one of the underhyped directors of recent times...
Ek haseena was such an awesome movie... So was Johny gadar...
Looking forward to Agent Vinod... Just hope that working with big stars big budgets does not dilute the simpicity and the edginess seen in his movies....
