What makes Amrita Rao and Shaahid Kapoor the perfect couple on screen? Ram Kamal Mukherjee finds out

Now that you've made me conscious about it, I think we really have good on-screen chemistry. But when we started off our careers as actors in Ishq Vishk we were novices and we were not so concerned about our look or the camera position. We used to simply give our shot and wait for the director's approval. The reason why my chemistry with Shaahid was appreciated is unknown to me; perhaps the fact that we were fresh actors worked in our case.

Now we are working together on couple of projects, of which I would certainly like to mention John Matthew's film, Shikhar. It's a lifetime role for me as an actress and I guess Shaahid also feels the same way. As far as Mahesh Manjrekar's Vah Life Ho To Aisi is concerned, it's a fun film and kids will love Shaahid and Sanjay Dutt in it.

We have also started working on Sooraj Barjatiya's Vivah. When Soorajji signed Shaahid, I was so happy for him. He comes across as the kind of guy you would love to fall for. He is sincere and extremely co-operative as an actor. I've been asked, very often, about his on-screen chemistry with Kareena, but I think it's unfair to judge a couple purely on the basis of a film. Bebo is a fantastic actress and they both look fabulous on and off screen.

She is a doll. If she is around you just can't afford to be serious. I share a very good rapport with Amrita. She is thorough professional. When Soorajji informed me that he signed Amrita as the female lead in his film Vivah, I knew she fit the bill. She comes across as a homely and sweet girl, a typical Sooraj Barjatiya kind.

In John Matthew's film Shikhar she comes as a surprise package, she will be noticed for her performance in that film. I have repeatedly said that on-screen chemistry has nothing to do with personal relationships. My equation with Bebo (Kareena) is completely different, and has nothing to do with the kind of rapport I share as an actor with Amrita.

We are very good friends and in fact it's Bebo who wants us to work together in films. My next release Vah Life Ho To Aisi is basically a fantasy film, but we have really nice romantic songs. In fact we shot a song in Cairo, the same location where Karan Johar shot the 'Suraj Hua Madhyam' track with Shah Rukh and Kajol in K3G... It was a nice experience. We were talking about SRK and Kajol's chemistry while shooting the song. After doing so many films with Amrita, I think people will expect something special from us and I am sure that they won't be disappointed.
