Does Talent matter?

Some people are saying this was a bad year for Deepika because she only had one hit Housefull. But, in my opinion, she gave her best performances this year with Lafangey Parindey and Break Ke Baad. She was also good in KCK and people who've seen KHJJS said she was fab. But why do those not count as successes as Housefull did, where her role wasn't prominent? It's said that people are blind to talent.

😛 The same can be said for Aish as well! She only had one big hit to her credit this year, Robot! But, hits and flops do not matter for her anymore because she has been in the industry for over 13 years! Her performances in Raavan, Guzaarish, and Action Replay were noticed, but it is sad the movies did not do well commercially! And Deepika and Aish are the most verstaile in 2010, hands down! Yes, talent matters! Otherwise, they would have not been able to do all these films!

None of the actresses mentioned are at that level to be termed as "Queen of Bollywood."

And just because a film doesn't do well, doesn't mean the acting was horrible. I mean most of the artists in the film industry are in it because of their talent alone. So despite whether the movies were hit or flops what matters is how much the actor/actress put into their role.

And once again this all goes back to the difference of opinions by the audience. Some will appreciate, others will not.

I cannot comment much of Deepika's movies because I haven't seen her newer ones.

And Katrina cannot act for crying out loud (I'm sorry Katrina fans, but I'm just stating my viewpoints)! I think she has a lot of brushing up to do as an actress. So does Deepika, but Katrina more!

I just don't think a film's status and an actor's or actress's talent go hand in hand. The film can be the biggest flop ever, but that doesn't mean the actor or actress didn't do justice to their role.

In today's times though I think its more about glamor & sex appeal rather than talent. Most of these "recent" actresses have a lot of brushing up to do with their acting skills, but when it comes to their looks, figures, sex appeal they are far more in all of that than they are in acting.

its a balance of both that matters....u can have a bundle of talent but if u dunt have a blockbuster to ur credit, the general audience won't notice u....(hint Tabu, Koko, vidya, anushka...therz never any hype or buzz abt their muvies)...similarly.....u can have blockbusters to ur credit, but if all ur doing is looking pretty, ppl will get bored of u soon (hint priety zinta MAYBE barring a few earlier muvies)....

edit: I disagree about no actress of today are called queen of bollywood. I consider Katrina the queen of bollywood for her hits and her massive fans she has. The public adores her. And bebo and PC queen of bollywood because the audience love and appreciate their talent. They have massive fans following too maybe not as much as kat, but they do have good handfull of fans. And sometimes they do give hits. So they have best of both worlds. 😊

Back to the topic. I think talent does matter obviously, but boxoffice matters more. People are complaining a lot about Katrina not being a good actress and for kareena signing only commerical films recently. But when we think about it, I don't blame bebo and kat for their film choices. Bollywood is obsessed with boxoffice more than hollywood. Even the awards in bollywood, are given to actresses who give a decent performance and give hits. It's a rare that an actress who gives a top notch performance in a flop film to win an award..same for actors.

But I do think actresses should mix it up. Do a film that will guarantee a box office hit. And also mix it up with a performance oriented role. And I think bebo has been doing that perfectly recently. We are family (performance oriented role,), Agent V. (she has a good role here) and a G3 (boxoffice hit). And PC even though AA wasn't a hit. Her future line up seems promising with mix of both commerical(Don) and perforamnce oriented role (SKM). So kudos to both bebo and PC for that. 👍🏼
