everyday trade analysts say...tht so much money has been put on films that loses audiences because they simply don't feel its worth it...and its the price which falls for it...
kites, raavan, and now guzaarish...all had the same problem - so much high price tht it found diffccult to recover and these were all turned not just into flops...but disasters...
so the question is...why are thes films are so high budgeted if they are really expermental...
a flim like ROBOT is understood to have a high budget for cgi and vfx....but these movies doesnt even carry that scope...
so why is the need to put so much money,,,in to these projects....
if a movie like guzaarish fails and 80 crores...imagine 4 'PEEPLI LIVE movies can be made and cn make solid profits and benefit the industry... guzaarish was a film tht could be easily made in a small budget
i am really sorry but these people utv and reliance big pictures have gone crazy...itna paisa lekar flop films hi banani hai....to charity kar do..atleast kuch had tak bhala ho jayega desh ka........

'Guzaarish' is most likely to end up losing around 40 crores. A budget in which two movies like 'Guzaarish' could have easily been made. A movie which has received accolades, being termed as a classic, well promoted, shocks everyone by opening with a poor 30% to 40% response.

What's the reason, well it's not the content which has worked against the flick it's the cost at which the content has being brought to the audience has worked against the film. The total cost of 'Guzaarish' including print, publicity, and marketing was a whooping 85 crores.

SRK biggie 'Om Shanti Om' an out and out commercial which had the King Khan in a double role was sold around the same price' So what justifies such a price for a film which is a sensible, good cinema which doesn't attract the regular audience and most of the movie is shot in indoors.

Take a look at the pricing and you will be surprised to see how wrong UTV has gone in its capacity as a producer.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali was paid 27 crores as remuneration.

Hrithik Roshan took 15 crores (for his last hit Jodhaa Akbar, Hrithik was paid less than 5 by the same UTV) Aishwarya was paid 5 crores.

That's comes to 47 crores' a cost where two 'Break Ke Baad' can be easily done with publicity and you will be still be left with a couple of crores.

A major miscalculation...

Lesson to Mr SLB as well. Dont focus so much on just the sets and looks and the visual art of a product. In the end, its the story that sells.

60-80 crores. Thats one heck of a costly experiment. 😲
I rather watch a 3-4 crore ka A Wednesday than spend my 10 dollars on a 60-80 crore ka experiment. 😊.
Okay and I my answer to the question is a big fat NO.

Well, if you guys have ever done shopping for your respective homes, you would realize that buying Curtains cost a lot of money!
I am pretty sure that 60% of the 80 Crore was spent in sourcing fabric for the curtains & drapes that were used throughout the film and the rest of the money was given to Sabyasachi Mukherjee for designing the Tent cloth that Ash was wearing in the film!

Ronnie Screwvala , chairman of UTV that has produced Guzaarish was very clear that the budget of Guzaarish was to be a certain amount (Rs 50 crore as cost of production), at which he thought the film was commercially viable, and we were not to exceed that.

Another big release from UTV is Guzaarish, featuring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the Rs.50 crore film releases on 19 November.

The official spokesman for UTV Motion Pictures, which financed and co-produced the film with Bhansali, however pegs the production cost at '50 crore, with an additional '10 crore for prints and publicity: "We have pocketed '25 crore from the sale of music and satellite rights already and are expecting the film to do good business over the week."
