Wedding bells for Kareena Kapoor?

Kareena Kapoor

Ending much speculation, actor Kareena Kapoor says that the massive rock that she sports on her ring finger is something that she had gifted herself.

"I know, everybody loves it (the huge diamond) but it's mine. Saif has not gifted it to me," she says.

The obvious question that comes up next is that of marriage and Kareena says that it is an eventuality for sure. "I believe in the institution of marriage and I will eventually settle down. But at this point of time, it is work which is on top of my priority list," says Kareena.

Ask Kareena if marriage is no longer considered a taboo for heroines and she blatantly denies this. The actor feels that Bollywood still has a reservation against married heroines.

"Who are we kidding? I think that we have not reached a stage where Bollywood accepts a married heroine. Of course, there are exceptions like Aishwarya Rai and Kajol but it is the exceptions that prove the rule," she says.

Talking about actor beau Saif Ali Khan's kids, Sara and Ibrahim, Kareena admits that she has developed a certain bond with them which is more of friendship and easy camaraderie.

"Sara is very good at her studies and so is Ibrahim. I really admire the way they have grown up. Of course, I also admire the way they have been brought up so beautifully by their mother (referring to Saif's ex-wife and actor Amrita Singh). The kids and I are more like friends and I am really fond of them," adds Kareena.

The actor also fondly refers to Saif's mother, Sharmila Tagore and says that she has learnt a lot from her. "She was a style icon in her days and we must also remember that the best of her performances also came after she was married. I admire the way she dresses and carries herself. She was also the numero uno heroine of her times. We have a lot of similarities," says Kareena.

The one thing that Kareena recently missed out on was meeting the late Maharani Gayatri Devi, whom she adores. "I heard so much about her from Saif but I was fortunate enough to meet her like him. She was one of the most beautiful women in the world," she ends dreamily.

I agree with Kareen 100% Film makers and the audience seem to fall out of luv with actresses once they settle down. It's such a shame, really and quite unfair considering male actors do not face such a problem. But actresses seem to become less appealing once they get married. And I agree that Kajol and Ash are the exceptions. But the majority are not so lucky!

unfortunately, the world of bollywood is all about looks, for the most part, specially if someone wants to be successful commercially...!
Ash and Kajol both have maintained themselves well, and are still going strong... Kajol has the advantage of being in Karan's camp, as well as doing movies with Ajay... i doubt she gets any good offers from outside...! and as for madhuri and sridevi... whom are they going to be paired with...? and what roles can they possibly take up...?? 😕 both have had two decades of fame and success... and both left when they were no longer getting good roles/scripts... so it's not like they left at the prime of their career... well, with the exception of Kajol...
and the select few roles that are well written for the actresses, end up being taken by the ones that are currently in the running, so really, i don't see how it would be possible for any of them to make a come-back even...!
looking at the example of her own sister, i can see where she's coming from...!

you're so right! But there are examples of women who have continued to work long after marriage...of course they're not as popular b/c at the end of day it's about looks! But I think it's all about priorities...I think some women just choose not to work after motherhood or marriage b/c they want to experience the home life since they have been working forever! And others do both and some never get married! I don't think marriage becomes an obstacle, but all about have one wants to prioritize in life!! Also, if the girl is married but still looks hot...she's get offers no matter what!!!

But you're right...i see her point too, but there's just too much competition nowadays b/c back in the day it was like 5 top actresses and they were in like every movie...now there's no many newcomers and genres of films...so there's like top 15 actresses w/ only a few who know how to actually act and perform!
