Anjaana Anjaani – Movie Review
Producer
Sajid Nadiadwala
Director
Siddharth Anand
Star Cast
Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Zayed Khan
Love story is the much loved genre of the Bollywood lovers. We are used to watching formula love stories like rich girl loves poor boy and girl's father doesn't allow them to get married and has wish of marrying her with his richest friend's son. But all was smoked into happy ending. Another trend was triangular love stories. Two boys love same girl or two girls love same boy and in the end one has to sacrifice his/her love.
A new trend has been noticed for a while which is that a boy meets girl friendship erupts some funny moments, nice melodious songs and they don't know that they love each other which comes out in very last scene.
Does Anjaana Anjaani belong to these formula love stories or does it have something new to offer?
Lets find out!
Story:
Aakash (Ranbir Kapoor) and Kiara (Priyanka Chopra) have some personal problems and want to commit suicide. Both meet on a bridge but fail to commit suicide then they try it lots of times through different ways but are unsuccessful. They decide that they will commit suicide after 20 days on 31st Dec night and till 20 days they will live together and enjoy the life.
How they live together and what were their problems Anjaana Anjaani is all about this.
If we talk about story it sounds interesting and different but director Siddharth Anand fails big time to execute it in a convincing manner. Frankly speaking movie doesn't offer any thing new. Same situations, acting, and climax. I don't know why in every single love story hero and heroine come to know that they love each other in the end. Why can't they realize it on the half way? Do we really need a second hero (Zayad Khan) in a small role which helps to realize hero and heroine that they are in love?
Another negative thing that movie is based on only two characters and in 150 minute long running time there is hardly any third character. Zayad Khan has a small role but audience get bored after interval when story doesn't go further and same characters, same situations come again and again.
Movie takes a good start with office scenes of Ranbir Kapoor and first meeting at bridge of lead pair. Even first 20-25 minutes are fine but then story becomes predictable and does not offer any single thing different and new.
Writer director Siddharth Anand fails in the scripting section. So, he wraps up with some funny situations which are really hilarious.
Scenes which will make you laugh!
First encounter between lead pair on bridge Bar scene Swimming scene in the ocean - Stripping of Ranbir at the Dancing bar
Performances:
Anjaana Anjaani belongs to only Priyanka Chopra. Her acting, style, dialogue delivery and face expressions all are simply superb. After Pyar Impossible she is back after nine months and has given her best. - Ranbir is also good but his acting doesn't show anything new and different. He has same role like Bachna Ae Haseeno, Wake up Sid and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.
Overall:
Anjaana Anjaani fails in the scripting section and does not offer anything new. Expect melodious music of Vishal Shekhar and decent performances by lead pair nothing is worth watching.
Anjaana Anjaani has big competitor in the shape of Robot and Dabangg is still ruling the single screens. At the box- office it is really hard for it to sustain in the weekdays.
Rating:
2 / 5
(One star for funny moments and one star for decent performances by the lead pair.)
