^To be honest though...I didn't find Kat's role in Rajneeti anything spectacular. It was only the last 10minutes where she donned that serious look...and made a few seconds speech. Otherwise, her character wasn't anything powerful in the entire movie...like the male characters were. So maybe PK Jha realized that and went ahead with Kat? Who knows.

+1. Sorry for jumping in and going off-topic but totally agree with Crazy Fanatic...Rajneeti being a hit machine has nothing to do with her Katrina's presence in Rajneeti. It went on to become a hit movie cuz of its performances by MAJOR characters/their characterization/script & other useful aspects of the movie. Certainly, not (ONLY) Katrina...She hardly has ANYTHING to do in the movie. 🥱

Back to topic: Kareena is as mainstream as mainstream can get (add a bit of jhalli-phulliness), ofcourse, boxoffice matters to her. I, for one, never saw her sitting in the corner accepting whatever n just being happy with it. Prbly, she was more carefree when she was younger but then...life happened 😆

Hmmm but raajneeti was marketed as a love story between Samar (Ranbir) and Indu (Katrina). Almost 90 percent of promos have focused on Katrina and ranbir and even the biggest trade analysts have said teh thing that drew people to watch such a heavy duty political movie is Katrina and Ranbir's presence. Its just impossible to deny Kat's influcence at the boxoffice...

Guys u didn't understand my point. I wasn't saying Ranjeeti was a hit only because of Katrina. I was saying the director choose Kat over other talented actress like Vidya and koko because he knew Kat would give him a hit or bring more audiences to cinema. See it seems like Kat's role wasn't anything special in Ranjeeti, but if a talented actress was there in the film, they could have done so much with that tiny role. I recall someone saying that for them Kareena was the reason they enjoyed 3 idiots on this forum. I agree with them, sorry don't recall who said that. But yeah AMir is a great actor, but to be honest Kareena left more of an impact in the film than Amir for me. Kareena and Omi Vidya were the best characters and performance wise more satisfying for me. And the See Kareena's role was small, but to many she left an impact at least more than Kat did in Ranjeeti. They loved her character and also the drunk scene is/and still memorable. See to make long story short, Kat could have made that small and not so great role something special by making it her own and giving a powerful performance in just one or two scenes, kareena has done that in many films if not 3 idiots. 3 idiots is not that of a special role either as many said before, but kareena did leave an impact IMO. I know others might disagree, it's okay because this is just my opinion no need to attack me or try to shove your opinions down my throat :P

I love her in Chameli, JWM and omkaara or even her debute film, she was an ACTOR

i m so sorry to hear the BO success is luring her so much like Kat

Kareena is one of those actress in the recent times who should do more performance oriented roles, she was fab in kurbaan

i agree, i won't deny with the fact that its Kat and Ranbir and even more Kat who is a crowd puller

and i watched the film expecting kat to ACT, but sadly she didn't impress me to that level

OH God! U have no idea how much it pains me that kareena wants to do glam roles more than performance oriented films. Most loyal fans of kareena want her to do serious role, someone please knock some sense into this girl. she says she will listen to her fans and do the roles her fans want her to do. She is not on twitter, what can we poor fans do :(

And for bebo choosing boxoffice over talent. Am a bit worried about that. Even though this is not about PC, PC also said on twitter when one fan asked her cricial aclaim or box office, PC choose box office. I recall being shocked about PC's answer.

Am also shocked about kareena's answer because in one interview she said that her secret for being in the industry for so long and that too being on top, is her passion for cinema, love from fans, and her talent. She knows that it's her talent that made her survive in the industry so long. Than why sudden change of mind bebo? I think it's the 3 idiots and Katrina effect for both PC and kareena. They see that Kat is considered a top actress because of her box office history despite having no strong peformance behind her. So I understand why PC and Kareena answered they way they did.

And someone mentioned that when a director needs a talented actress they don't go to Kat but they take the likes of actress like Koko and Tabu or something like that. Than why did the director of Ranjeeti choose Kat in a role were a powerful performance was needed. Kat fell flat on her face when she was giving her speech in the movie. I could see Vidya in that role and she probably would have done justice to it, and would have left a stronger impact. Than why did the director choose Kat over Viday and other talented actress? Answer: Kat gives hits and thatz all that matters in bollywood. And thatz why Kat gets more offers and better script than talented actress like Vidya and koko who are not per say "Superstars"

The PC-Kat angle was brought in because Kareena chose box-office over national awards. Nobody is saying anything about picking Kat over PC. Kat is a bigger star box-office wise definitely. Btw she's only a bigger star because of that.
