Masala! shows you how one sinister villain wins by a landslide…
Langda Tyagi
He had a half-smile, a toothpick between his teeth, a two-day stubble and a pronounced limp. You'd easily pass him by if you did not notice his eyes. Cold. Calculating. Pure evil. Saif Ali Khan played an impeccable Iago in Omkara, overshadowing even the hero. Smouldering hot in intimate scenes (lucky Konkona!!), all oiliness when dealing with the boss and always quietly menacing, Langda Tyagi is one villain we're not going to forget. Ever.
Gabbar Singh
When Gabbar Singh shouted, children fled; when Gabbar Singh laughed, grown men cried. Amjad Khan played the conic bandit with larger-than-life gestures and motions in Sholay. We'll never forget the 'kitne aadmi the' dialogue or the Mehbooba dance. So big was the riginal Gabbar that even Bachchan Sr failed to make a mark trying to reprise that character in RGV Ki Aag.
Mogambo
Amrish Puri played a brilliant Mogambo in Mr India, the man whose plans of world domination made him a full-blown global villain. We'll never forget that rasp: 'Mogambo khush hua'! Salman is supposed to revive the character in the 21st century version of the movie. We somehow don't think he packs Amrish's menace.
