Salman Khan To Race Real Horseflesh for Veer

Salman Khan, perhaps Bollywood's most famous actor, has been practicing what many of his films preach these last weeks – action hero stuff.

According to our sources at Eros Entertainment, Khan will be participating in a for real horse race at Mumbai Race Course this Sunday, January 17th. Everything PR News received images and the scoop on Khan's latest promotion of the upcoming epic film Veer.



We just covered Salman Khan's personal blogging experience, and the background story behind his participation in Veer here a few weeks ago. The movie is actually something Khan has dreamed of doing for a very long time. Veer will be the most adventurous Bollywood spectacle ever produced according to most accounts, and it comes as no surprise that Eros International and Khan himself are pulling out all the stops in support of it.

I have to be honest, I was personally drawn in when in my last report on Veer Salman's blog about the movie revealed so many interesting facts about him, as well as some common movie trivia and lore we shared. Khan as it turns out, is something of a videophile himself, besides being on the acting and producing end of things. He appears endeared to his fans about as much as they are to him. Every time I write something about Khan a fan or two drops by to speak well of him.

Veer is an epic love story starring Khan obviously, and produced by Vijay Galani Moviez. Director Anil Sharma, being the creative force behind the film aside Khan, brings 3 decades of film making along with a great supporting case of characters. As for Khan's horsemanship? Well, anyone who has ever ridden a thoroughbred (or horse period) knows racing one is a far cry from a movie studio steed. Veer, for those lucky enough to see the first screenings (hint hint Eros), should be something special. Salman is pictured left with presumably the horse he will ride in Sunday's event as well as jockeying in the full size one below.



Salman? Dude lots of people admire you including me for the dedication and guts it takes to live like you film. Veer releases in cinemas worldwide on January 22.

Salman Khan gets a feel of the Mahalaxmi Track

Bollywood super hero Salman Khan was a surprise visitor at Mahalaxmi today. Just past noon, Salman in his trademark jeans and T-Shirt came without any fanfare to the Amateur Riders Club (ARC) to choose a horse he may ride on Sunday in the exhibition Veer Race.

Ajay Savla, an ARC and RWITC member, and a friend of Salman, who was present, offered his horse Wild Rose and Salman cantered the filly in the Mahalaxmi backstretch with the confidence of a professional. Vivek Jain, Chairman, RWITC was on hand to welcome the star and ensure the practice session went off without a hitch.

Salman Khan appeared to enjoy his short rendezvous with the Rose and the turf. The star will ride with five other jockeys, of which a few will be from ARC. It is expected jockeys Srinath, Malesh Narredu and B.Prakash will ride with him. As per present plans, the race will be flagged off from the 600m mark at about 3.15pm, just before the Hello! Million race and a huge attendance is expected to cheer the "Veer" past the winning post before he accepts the Trophy.
