Aamir has always been keen on remaking Yaadon Ki Baarat, which is his favourite film of all time. "Yaadon Ki Baarat is probably my most favourite film; everything about it struck a chord with the masses, the music, the characters, the performances and storyline," said Aamir when quizzed about the same. Directed by his grandfather Nasir Hussain, the film starred Dharmendra and Zeenat Aman and was a boxoffice hit, with one of the most memorable songs till date. Nasir's son Mansoor, who is also Aamir's uncle, had last directed Josh, the Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai-starrer, after which he retired to his home in Coonur. Mansoor had resurfaced during the launch of his grandson Imran Khan in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, which he also produced.
Aamir, at the time being, is revelling in the stupendous success of 3 Idiots and is now planning on taking a break from acting as such. A source close to the actor adds, "Aamir worked real hard on promoting 3 Idiots, and the entire tour of the country has made him refrain from acting for the time being. He, however, has several other projects as producer to keep him busy. He's decided to concentrate on films under his production house, one being the short film Peepli Live, which was even premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Apart from that, he has Kiran's Dhobi Ghaat, which has a lot of post-production work to be looked after."
So when does that give him time to move forward with Yaadon Ki Baarat? The source adds, "Considering the fact that Aamir has had back-to-back Christmas releases since three years, 2010 will be the only year when he will have an early release (Dhobi Ghaat). Thus, he will take the time to rework on the script with Mansoor along with other such formalities, as remaking a classic needs its time and hard work." About Imran being a part of the film, he adds, "Yes, definitely Imran will be a part of the film- that was thought of a long while ago."
