De Dana Dan has tanked at the box office. Is the Akshay-Katrina magical jodi failing?
How the tables have turned! There was a time not too long ago when Akshay was giving Katrina her big break by agreeing to star opposite her and helping her get her first box office hit as a solo-heroine with Namastey London. But now a beleaguered Akshay is turning to Katrina to work her magical charm on the big screen. Things are looking dire indeed for the Khiladi if, despite starring opposite hit magnet Katrina, his latest film has flopped!
De Dana Dan
This was the film that Akki was sure would be a hit. It had his favourite director Priyadarshan (with whom he has had a hit in Hera Pheri) and his fave heroine Katrina. How could anything go wrong with this laugh riot? Obviously 2009 is not his year, 'cause things did go wrong...
Blue
Akki was not taking chances here – so he had Lara in a swimsuit, lots of underwater action sequences, races, super cool goatee AND his favourite lucky charm Katrina in an item number. Plus Kylie doing her first B'wood number EVER. But surprise, surprise, surprise, even that could not save Blue from a blue funk. Tch!
Kambakkht Ishq
A dapper Akshay, double entendre jokes, Kareena playing both a doc and a super-model, a wardrobe worth killing for – but nothing could save this loud film!
Chandni Chowk
It was supposed to be the first big hit of 2009 with the never-before-seen jodi of Deepika and Akshay. But the humour and the pairing missed the mark entirely.
