It was funny when the interviewer said that Bollywood did not accept IR music. :) Well..IR never moved away and concentrated in Bollywood. He was very very busy in the Southern film industry with almost all songs in the 80's being super duper hits...where does he have the time?
Ofcourse...That did not stop very many bollywood music directors from copying his tunes. The famous " neele neele ambar par" is a blatant copy of "Ilaya nila". Sadma was a hit and the music was by IR. "Hey Zindagi gale lagaa le" is a very path breaking song in the 80's.
Well...if Bollywood did not get to hear IR's tunes, the loss is totally theirs. Who can forget ninaivellam nithya, agni natchathiram, mouna ragam and thousand other scores.
Coming to this mudi mudi song, it is a rehash of "ninnukori varanam"..but IR has tweaked it a little here and there...ofcourse both follow the same ragam" Mohanam". I am not sure of the hindustani eqvivalent. Amazing song.
