On herself
"I come from an upper-middle class family. My parents are from the army and not rich. I bought my first car with my own money when I was 18. And now I've bought my own house in Mumbai. To be able do that in a span of four years is a great feeling. You don't know how grateful I feel."
On the Shahid-Anushka rumour
"What to do? You read it first thing in the morning, you say, 'Ha, ha good one'. The day this item appeared, Shahid and I had a script reading. As soon as he saw me, he said, 'Babe, apparently we're dating each other!' And I said, 'Yeah man, I just got to know about it'. It must be worse for him as he has been linked with probably everyone he's worked with."
On Aditya Chopra
"I would call Adi Chopra my mentor. People think Adi is this very strict, reclusive man. Amongst the media at least that is the perception; he is like the most wanted. But you know, he is the nicest person I've met in the industry. His professionalism and his passion for work is contagious. His life is films. The fact that he is not talking to the media is something you need to understand. He doesn't want to be a celebrity. I know he is like the forbidden fruit for the media. But trust me he is someone to be admired."
On her fans
"The cutest thing was when a 15-year-old guy wrote to me saying, 'Right now, I am very, very young. But when I plan to get married I will look for a girl who looks like you'. I could sense the boy's innocence in that letter! Also, my cousin in Delhi has been telling me, 'Didi please sign autographs and send them to me. I can sell them for Rs 10 in my school!'"
On Shah Rukh Khan
"One thing I can't forget about Shah Rukh is his smell. He smells superb." Didn't she want to find out which perfume he uses? "He used to smell different each time. I would be like, 'Wow man! Shah Rukh, you smell so good'."
"If you think you know Shah Rukh Khan, you don't. That's the thing about Shah Rukh. He can always keep you guessing. Each day I used to be like – 'Okay, he's like this, oh no he's not like that... every day he used to be a new person for me. Shah Rukh's just so mysterious yaar. I don't know if you've heard anyone say it but I find him mysterious. I can't fathom him. I just can't."
On her single status
"I'm very much single. Where is the time? It's not just time, you need great commitment too. I don't get time to do normal things like reading a book at night before going to sleep! Forget about dating somebody. And when you're seeing someone you should be wholeheartedly doing it and have time for the person."
