Manoj Bajpai's survival strategy
Mumbai: Though rumours suggest that the story of Prakash Jha's forthcoming film Rajneeti is based on the life of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, After Hrs has learnt that the script is inspired from the Mahabharata. Five main characters in the movie will have qualities similar to that of the Kauravas and Pandavas. Some of them will echo goodness while others will portray evil.
The actor tells us what made him survive in Bollywood for over 15 years and spills a small secret about one of his forthcoming films.

Manoj Bajpai, who plays one of the five roles, said, "Our characters are based on what you have read in the Mahabharata. However, it is a political drama. We have around 15 more days left to finish shooting. We are in Bhopal and a massive number of people are working as cast and crew. About 300 people are camping in the city."
Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar, Ranbir Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi and Katrina Kaif are the other characters in the movie.

Apart from this, Manoj is also doing a Telugu movie after 11 years. His first Telugu movie was Prema Katha.

"It feels great to do a Telugu film after so long. The movie's name is Puli and Chiranjeevi's brother Pawan Kalyan, who is a huge star down South, is acting in it. AR Rahman is composing the music and Vinod Pradhan is the cinematographer. We finish shooting in November," he said.

Manoj added, "However, doing a Telugu film is a tedious task and takes double the effort. I had to learn the language and then deliver it correctly with the right emotion and pitch, which only added to the pressure."

Though Manoj has more flops to his credit than hits, he is happy that people look at his work and not his box office record, before choosing him for a role.

"I am blessed that people love my acting. For an actor, this is the biggest compliment. It has made me survive in the industry for 15 years. Though I am not as successful as many other actors, I'm doing good work which people are enjoying," he said.
