These days movies thanks to Multiplex revenue and wider releases can become hits withing 2 weeks or so of the release. The era of silver and golden jubilees is long gone.

Sorry, I wasn't attacking you but I was clearly amused by your post. That emoticon was for your post. Anyways, LAK was first superhit of this year! It had did stupendous business and I am glad that even though it lacks in some department but still it was way much better than other slapstick comedy like singh is king and golmaal....

I am so pleased to see this post after seeeing so many posts praising LAK.
Let me first clear a fact that I love the direction of Imtiaz Ali. My favorite movie of his is Socha Na Tha and then Jab We Met, so it's not like I want to bash anyone.
But having said this I must say that LAK was a very bad directed and scripted movie. While the concept was nice and could have been very interesting if the treatment were different.
The first foolish thing I found in the movie which i must mention is the use of Saif Ali Khan in a double role without a meaning. I mean why did they take Saif Ali Khan as the younger version of Rishi..I know Saif produced the movie and maybe he wanted more publicity, screen space or just plain wanted to save money..but I found it the most cheap and senseless decision. Ranbir or anyother actor would have been a good choice. If Rishi were Saif's dad in the movie and was sharing his lovestory with his son then it might have made sense but as things stand it seemed downright ridiculous.
SEcondly the movie was moving like a documentary..it was so boring and absolutely not happening..I must confess that I could not sit through the whole movie and left it like after 70 minutes of screen time. My sister in law tortured herself by seeing the whole movie only to conclude that I had made a wise decision by deciding not to see the rest of the movie. She said there was nothing to redeem the movie from its sad illogical state till the end..the ending was also ridiculous.
I dont know what happened to Imtiaz Ali..maybe it was Saif'S influence ? anyway i don't know how this movie proved to be a hit..To me it'S like the eighth wonder of the world..
I am so glad I could let my steam off today !!

dude good marketing and that's it if u marketed ur product good then u can sell even the worst thing available in market na plues the big factor was imtiaz after JWM and saif's first production i truly believe saif was wasted in the film what a misuse of saif's talent

People might have hated it but they did spend money at the theatre to watch it. The hate came after the watch. Even a strict one time watch by everyone at the theatre was probably enough to make it a "superhit" 😛

Excuse my knowledge regarding Bollywood as it's pale in comparison to many here, but I believe it was a hit because Bollywood had just come out of the strike and there was a halt to movies for 3 months or so. LAK was amongst the earlier movies lined up post the strike, thus many folks happened to spend their money to purchase the tickets.
Is LAK a childish movie? NO. I did happen to appreciate the concept, but the characters were very loosely handled and failed to create an impact in my opinion. On top of that the OTT maggot - like dialogues didn't work in its favor. Everyone's acting in it was strictly medicore and Meera didn't happen to be a 'challenging' role (lol), but it was pleasure to watch Deepika improve miles from her previous flicks.
Having said that, I have seen worse, so it's OK.

Damn it, the internet connection here is so freaking bad. I'm getting annoyed.

Anyways - yes, that is true. But if it was bad, then people wouldn't tell their friends to go watch it.. whatever though. It makes zero difference in my life.
