most underrated actors and actresses?

in your opinion, who are the most underrated actors and actresses in bollywood?

The answer depends on what you mean by "underrated"? Some people might not be stars but they have their loyal cult following, like Kay Kay Menon for instance.

I guess here we are going by as to the celebs who are very talented and have showed it too but are still not getting their due as in the amount of praise they deserve.

For me, it is and always has been Tabu. I find her to be the perfect combination of graceful beauty and immense talent. I find it sad that she never got her full due in Bollywood whereas these talentless bimbettes who are nothing more than clothes-hangars in movies continue to rule the roost. Anyone who has seen Chandni bar and Namesake could probably appreciate what I am saying.

See that is what I mean... Kay Kay Menon, Tabu, Irfan Khan, and the like have got praise from critics and they have their own small but loyal following.

I don't count box office success or popularity among the audience as praise necessarily, because a lot of these actors work in films with smaller budgets that cannot be released as widely or are not promoted as much as bigger films with stars.

I don't count most awards in India as very valuable praise either because they come with their own set of biases. In that sense I don't think most good actors are underrated, but just not as popular or as well known.

I think I liked Tabu the best in Maqbool actually.
