I don't know to which party Raj Thackeray belongs: Ranbir

Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor has said he did not know to which party Raj Thackeray belonged.

Kapoor gave the statement while talking to reporters during a programme organised by a magazine here on Friday.

He was replying to a question about the objection raised by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Chief Raj Thackeray over the use of word 'Bombay' in his recently-released film 'Wake Up Sid' and director Karan Johar later meeting Mr Thackeray to apologise.

Kapoor felt it could be a matter of debate whether the country's commercial capital should be called Mumbai or Bombay. He admitted that Mr Johar had met Mr Thackeray and tried to make things clear.

On whether Mr Johar apologised to Mr Thackeray, he said it could be the way of interpretation.

''Whenever an argument or a misunderstanding occurs between two sides, communication helps in ending deadlock,'' he said, adding that he did not know to which party Mr Thackeray belonged.

Kapoor, who is here in connection with the shooting of noted filmmaker Prakash Jha's upcoming flick 'Rajniti', said his mother and film actress Neetu Singh was his greatest crtic from whom he had learn a lot.

He was all praise for his father and veteran actor Rishi Kapoor.

The star son said he wanted to establish himself as a director in the next three years.

He added that he was enamoured by the abundant beauty in the state capital.

I don't see why there is such a fuss over the use of Bombay in the film, we don't hear the screening of a film being disrupted if it has used Calcutta instead of Kolkata or Madras instead of Chennai.
