Bipasha Basu is very upset with the news of her ouster from Mani Ratnam's ambitious project Raavan starring Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai.
The actress who was playing the part of Mandodari, Abhishek's wife was excited about her role as it had a major prominence in the storyline of the film. Bipasha had not only given several dates for the film, but right from dress fittings to attending rehearsals, pretty much everything had been covered. Bipasha even had an exotic item number in the film which was nothing like what she had done before and out of the 20 days of shooting, 12 were to be just for the song.
Mani Ratnam'spokesperson explained, 'Mani did not want to do injustice to Bipasha's role and will ensure that they work together again.' Bipasha while extremely sad too maintained a professional stand saying that it's any day better than having her role chopped in the film. Insiders however say, "Bipasha's role could have eaten up Aishwarya's role in the film. Aishwarya is quite demure and understated while Bipasha is known to demand more screen prominence. Also by adding her role, there would be significant focus given to that track and Mani did not want the attention to divert from the leading characters of the film. It would just additional work for him to give everybody significance rather than sticking to the original storyline."
Here's hoping Bipasha next release All the Best, which is her only release this year can make up for her sadness, considering Pankh has had its share of release troubles from the very start.
