ACTION: Stunt Stars of Bollywood

They have millions of rupees riding on them but they are unafraid to perform their own stunts, with insurance of course. From jumping off buildings to rollerblading on buses, the sparkling stars of B-town have done it all.

Salman Khan in Wanted

This is the perfect superhero film as the hero always escapes unscathed. He sang a song while standing on a moving train and beat a bunch of baddies to a pulp, leaving a trail of blood behind. The action was very South-Indian style yet Salman Khan and his eight-pack torso made it all work.

Aamir Khan in Ghajini

Kareena Kapoor made national news with her size zero figure, he made national news with his unmatched eight-pack abs. Once again, he single-handedly smashed heads with rods and against walls, slashed wrists and twisted arms. Since a bulked up Aamir Khan was doing it, we believed it. Like Uma Thurman in Kill Bill, he made gore look good and A-grade.

Ajay Devgan in All The Best and Golmaal Returns

In Golmaal Returns, he stood bravely on two moving bikes and did some wild car racing. In All The Best, he fearlessly allowed a car to flip over his head while he proposed to his lady love, Bipasha. We think all these stunts are unnecessarily extravagant, so we aren't going ga-ga over them.

Akshay Kumar in Kambakkht Ishq and Chandni Chowk to China

He was a stuntman in the film so he had to do some daredevil stunts. Spiro Razatos, who has worked on the Mission Impossible movies, guided Akshay through speed boat stunts and made him run up and down buildings ala the opening scene of Casino Royale.

In CC2C, he got a chance to show off his natural martial arts skills and karate chops by running on planks of wood in water and smashing clay pots with his bare hands.

Shruti Haasan and Imraan Khan in Luck

They both had the same kind of stunts so we have slotted them together. They jumped off helicopters to do sky-diving, swam with (fake) sharks and Shruti was tied to the engine of a train while Imraan fought off the baddies on top.

Hrithik Roshan in Dhoom 2 and Jodhaa Akbar

The Indian Greek God is also an action superstar. He roller-bladed between and on moving double-decker buses, jumped off cliffs and waterfalls and took our breath away while doing all this as he looked so darned handsome. In Jodhaa Akbar, he showed off some really smooth sword-fighting moves and bravely tackled and tamed a wild elephant. Very impressive! We were floored and so was Jodhaa's father.

Priyanka Chopra in Don and Drona

She learnt martial arts for Don and did some killer somersault moves on a bus when Don was kidnapped in the movie. She worked hard on toning her already petite frame and the flexibility with which she kicked ass, was very impressive.
