Disparity between actors and actresses salary?

Its common knowledge that an actor gets paid almost 3 to 4 times the amount of an actress.

Aitraaz, just watched it again yesterday and I was BLOWN away by Priyanka and Kareena in the movie. Priyanka was the perfect girl for the cunning, bitchy role that she played while Kareena played the role of a wife fighting for her husband to the T.

Preity Zinta in Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, she went from a role of the prostitute to that of the good girl with such comfort... Kya Kehna- even though it was her first movie, the movie relied completely on her...

There are so many others, will come back and add more for sure. But I agree that its really unfair that men are getting paid so much more than females but to some extent it is true that men draw the crowd more for a simple reason... most of these actors have been working for SO many years that they have a regular fan base. Actresses on the other hand, get married and shy away from the limelight so they don't have such a regular fan base to attract to the movies...

Yet I do think that there have been actresses from time to time who have commanded that kinda fan base, like Sridevi, Madz, Kajol.

Really... I don't think Rani has as big of a fan base anymore... For Indian audiences I do think the whole "out of sight is out of mind" idea is true... SADLY. I know people who were huge fans but now they have taken the likes of Kareena or Priyanka more...

After all, they are earning more than us. 3 crores is alot of money people.

ya very true!! A-League actresses should atleast be given half the cost of these A-League actors. Btw, actresses are just satisfied with these work pays but Actors like SRK, Aamir demand some % of the whole movies profit!!

There is a lot of girls screaming "I love you Sharukh". How many guys scream, "I love you Katrina"? I haven't seen that many around. This forum is filled with girls and a lot of girls praise actors more than the actress. In general the people to appreciate the actress for the most part are the guys, and give them Katrina Kaif walking in a short skirt they will be whistling for life. Besides, I also think guys are more interested in cricket, and they will sit glued to the TV screen watching cricket match, rather than watch a movie.

That is my assumption. I think girls support actors more, while guys support actresses, hence actors have more demand.
