You aren't the only one, but I still prefer him as a director. And I hope after Karthik Calling Karthik and Dhruv (both some of my most awaited films), he can go back to that. Although, I am not too thrilled about Don 2.

I heard he got a great script for Don 2.. but don't know.. his friend wouldn't say anything bad about his work. 😆

Jimmy Shergill is still not good looking to me. He's average acting and average looker.

Actresses can reach heights easily as compared to actors. Some, yes, do it because of their acting, as mentioned - such as the likes of Shabana Azmi, but SOME barely need to act and reach stardom. I think Vivek overdid it in Saathiya too by the way. Personally, I know criticizing Saathiya is a no-no here. But if you see the performances of Maddy and Shalini in Alaipayuthey, then Rani and Vivek's performances pale in comparison. Though I suppose one should not expect Shaad Ali to draw out the same great performances that Mani Ratnam can. Even though Shaad did his best to copy frame by frame what Mani Ratnam did in AP, he still could not capture for me the same essence.

Never saw Alaipayuthey, but I do think Vivek did a great job as a newcomer. there was always room for improvement with his future projects. Sadly, he never got decent romantic film offers after that. More or less, I think his character wasn't some serious lover boy, it was more of a perky, outgoing, naughty type of character, which maybe to some appeared as him over acting? but, as far as I know, Saathiya comes down as one of Vivek's best performances.

I disagree though. I feel Vivek has done a variety of roles, and has done justice to most of them if not all- BUT he never gotten the deserving credit. Saathiya was one of his best movies, I no where saw him over act in that film, I'll agree about the other two to some extent, but surely not about Saathiya. He was brilliant in that film.
