I feel sad for SRK and it's really awful that coz of a few people others have a suspiscion mark over them.
BUT we have to see this from America's point of view. They don't want to take any risk after 9/11 and that is why they have such stringent security.Even if they have an inkling of doubt they detain a person and question them. They don't give a damn if the person they have detained is a Star or No!!!
What's wrong in that??Isn't prevention better than regretting later? If by detaining a person and questioning them for 2 hours,it will make them feel secure of their country where millions live then they have all the right to do it!!!
And it's coz of this kind of Security that Ameria has not faced another attactk after 9/11..And we Indians have no right to make this a big issue when our own Security measures are down the drain and there is an attack every 2-3 years!!!
I'd rather feel safe in America than in India!

Law cannot come under any popular star's feet. And now what - make a mockery of the American system rather than improving your own country. People talk as if there is nothing else in the world than to watch movies and love popular stars and treat them like the elite.

Agreed.
While I don't pretend to understand the inner workings of SRK's mind, more than publicity stunt for MNIK, this seems like an attempt to garner sympathy to soothe his bruised ego. I can't help but think that some of the blame for his pompousness and subsequently, histrionics rests with many obsessive, blind fans and how much leeway the Indian govt. generally gives to the celebrities (Case in point: Sanjay Dutt).

Shah Rukh Khan Detained at US Airport
In eerie echoes of his role in the movie My Name is Khan, Shah Rukh Khan was today detained in Newark, New Jersey for two hours apparently because his name is Khan - a name on the alert list at US airports.

SRK was in the US to celebrate Independence Day. He was released after Indian Embassy officials vouched for him. "The US has developed religious paranoia over the years," Shah Rukh commented, "My guard was also denied a visa because he has the same last name as mine. They said I could't use my phone." He went on to say his hand luggage was searched and he was grilled by a US immigration official, even though he attempted to reassure him that he was there at the invitation of the South Asian community.

His close friend Karan Johar said, "I'm shocked and upset...feeling terrible for Shah Rukh. Initial media reports said that he was 'arrested', it was awful. There's a sense of humiliation and embarrassment. I mean being who he is, I don't understand why he had to go through something like this."

Twitter addict Priyanka Chopra was also quick to leap to his defence. "Shocking, disturbing and downright disgraceful. It's such behaviour that fuels hatred and racism. SRK's a world figure for God's sake. GET REAL!!" she exploded.

India's former ambassador to the US, Naresh Chandra said, "The authorities should have taken maximum 10-15 minutes for questioning Shahrukh, but it took two hours. It is great incompetence and has lowered the image of (US) Homeland Security".

Other Indian actors who have been victims of crude racial profiling in the past in the US have included Irrfan Khan, Aamir Khan - who had to endure a strip-search in Chicago, Neil Nitin Mukesh, whilst on his way to film New York, and even superstar Mammootty.

He is a citizen of earth who is more popular and successful and cherished than most but that does not bring the law under his feet.

How come this other incident's remained undercover? Or is it that these others were more matured to understand how the process works. A strip search is far more embarrassing than mere sting to an ego.

Shah Rukh Khan hassled by New Jersey Customs and TSA
Hassled: Bollywood star, Shahrukh Khan, Big huge Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan was detained and questioned at a New Jersey airport. Indian television reports claim he was "humiliated and insulted" by Jersey Customs and TSA agents. EPA/RAMINDER PAL SINGH

Big Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan was detained and questioned at a New Jersey airport. Indian television reports claim he was "humiliated and insulted" by Jersey Customs and TSA agents.

Khan, aka "King of Bollywood," earlier told an Indian television station by telephone from Chicago that he had been held for two hours at Newark Liberty International Airport against his will.

According to the AP reports, Khan lambasted US airport officials for racial profiling Muslims and detaining him because of his last name.

The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) claims the incident took a little over an hour.

"Generally speaking, travelers applying for admission into the United States are subject to inspection," the CBP agency said in a press statement. "The inspection process may include a more in-depth interview and baggage examination."

Saying it "strives to treat all travelers with respect and in a professional manner," CBP blamed the delay on the luggage loss. Travelers, it added, "may be referred for further inspection for a variety of reasons, to include identity verification, intent of travel and confirmation of admissibility."

Khan planned to take part in celebrations in Chicago on Saturday to celebrate India's Independence Day, and he told CNN-IBN television he was "really taken aback" by the incident.

This incident is on the heels of the former Indian president Abdul Kalam, also a Muslim, who was frisked by personnel of US carrier Continental Airlines
in New Delhi before boarding a US-bound flight.

The AP reports that Kalam was searched despite exemption rules at Indian airports for certain dignitaries from security checks.

The airline apologized for the actions.

I don't get why SRK is being seen in such a negative light after all of this. If I were the person who was being questioned, then I would understand the search but still be mildly "annoyed" and "worried" because I am in a foreign country and am being questioned for no fault of my own.

Taking anyone aside for questioning, I understand but what I don't understand:

1) Why wasn't he allowed to make a phone call? I think ANYONE should be allowed to make a phone call to show their "innocence" and that they are not part of any terrorist groups.

2) Doesn't his passport show all the times he has come here?

Another thing that I have to add, SRK was pounced on by so many fans right outside the airport, so it is not as if he came out yelling on the top of his lungs "I WAS JUST DETAINED FOR NO REASON FOR TWO HOURS!" It just so happened, that the media blows everything out of proportion.

So I believe the ONLY person at fault is the press, NOT SRK, or the US security...

Just had to state my POV.

Oh and by the way SRK has voluntarily stated in one of his interviews that he does not like America. Maybe the security offcials found that in their search and his Muslim last name was just icing on the cake.
This is what he said in 2008 during his The times of London interview:
" I don't like America. I love London as I feel at home here. People say English people are very cold and not friendly but I find them amazingly warm."
What I don't understand is if you don't like America, why come here? And then complain about the security procedure just because you lost 2 hours! Beats me.

He comes for fans... he comes for all the people that love him...

He stated his opinion, I don't like brocolli but I eat it because it is good for me... I still complain about the taste though... just because he doesn't like the country does not mean he hates it and could be a criminal...

again just to make it clear, i think the security proceedings were correct...

I would agree with you but the situation isn't the same. There is a huge difference between saying, "I dislike brocolli" and "I dislike America" because the latter sentence is coming from a Muslim man and the country he "dislikes" has in the past undergone a terrorist attack from people that follow his religion.
